Melbourne missing 3 weeks Chinese girl’s body still not found Police appeal to mystery man to show up

Police have returned to the bushlands of northeast Melbourne to search for Ju “Kelly” Zhang, a Chinese woman from Epping who has been missing for days, according to The Age newspaper on Feb. 22.

Ju was last seen at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 at her Home on Winchester Ave. in Epping.

Her boyfriend, Joon Seong Tan, a 35-year-old Doncaster man, has been charged with murder and appeared in court via video on Feb. 12 at the detention center, where Ms. Zhang’s body has still not been found.

On Monday, a police spokesman said Missing Persons Unit detectives will return to Heidelberg West to search a bush, as well as a portion of Darebin Creek west of Sheehan Rd Road.

Search and rescue teams, canine teams and public order response teams will also assist in the search.

The report said an anonymous person called the Crime Stoppers hotline to report the location of Zhang Ju’s body, and police asked the anonymous person to contact police again.

A spokesman said, “Investigators are still urging this person to call and provide further information or get in touch with detectives.”

When Zhang Ju, 33, disappeared, police believe she was wearing a pink nightgown and possibly a pair of pink slippers.

The suspect, Tan, has not applied for bail and is due back in court on July 16.

In mid-February, police had spent hours searching the river and park for clues at the Darebin Creek Reserve in northeast Melbourne.

The investigation is still ongoing.
