A woman spending New Year’s Eve alone in Beijing was trapped in her bathroom for 30 hours on the first day of the Lunar New Year (Feb. 12), and was finally rescued after banging on the toilet hose with a shower to attract the attention of neighbors.
A woman who spent New Year’s Eve alone in Beijing entered the bathroom in the early hours of the first day of the Lunar New Year (Feb. 12) to take a shower, but she didn’t expect to stay for 30 hours! Because the bathroom door lock was broken and she did not have her cell phone with her, she finally used the shower to knock on the toilet hose for a long Time to attract the neighbors’ attention before she was finally rescued.
Lele (a pseudonym), a 26-year-old Sichuan woman, had been renting an old high-rise house in Chaoyang District, Beijing, on the 15th floor for almost a year, and her room was located at the end of the passage, with the bathroom in the middle of the house.
At about 1 a.m. on the first day of the New Year, Lele went into the bathroom to take a shower and locked the door as usual, “either by unlocking it or closing it normally,” she said after finishing her New Year’s wishes with friends and Family. She said.
When she finished the shower and was ready to get out of the bathroom, she found that the door handle could not be opened, which was equivalent to locking herself in the bathroom. Lele tried to kick the door open with her foot, but the bathroom door was open to the inside, and there was a door frame, and her strength was not enough, so she could not kick it.
She also tried a variety of methods, including shouting for help, using the blade of an eyebrow trimmer stuck to the door in an attempt to not open the latch, using the shower head to break the glass on the door, trying to reach out of the door to turn the handle, but these methods have failed. Lele said, at that time the most regret is to bring the phone around.
During the time Lele was trapped in the bathroom, she could only sit on top of the toilet and sleep, and drank tap water to quench her thirst and fill her hunger. After a day of being trapped, she began to use the shower to knock on the toilet downpipe regularly for a long time, while also calling out for help.
After a long time banging on the toilet downspout, finally at 4:00 a.m. (February 13), the neighbor Mr. Zhang noticed the banging sound, and a voice came from the door: “Is someone screaming?”
Mr. Zhang introduced the early morning of the second day, he was awakened by the knocking, “was a little angry, so lying on the wall to hear who in the end is making noise?” “She said especially clear, saying which room she was, why she was trapped, how long she was trapped, I went along and came over to see if something really happened.”
Mr. Zhang and Lele across the door by shouting conversation, after learning the door code opened the door into the house and confirmed that Lele was trapped in the bathroom. Then called the master locksmith, finally succeeded in rescuing her, which was at 7:00 a.m. on the second day of the Lunar New Year, she was trapped in the bathroom has been 30 hours.
According to the locksmith, due to the door lock jamming problem is serious, he could only then remove the bathroom door lock.
Lele shared the trapped experience in her circle of friends after being rescued. She said she wanted to give all those living alone a wake up call that when in danger, “staying calm is the most important thing.”
“There are so many girls living alone in Beijing, someone must have encountered the same situation.” Lele recommends that no matter what you do, your phone must not leave your body: “Now, I make sure to keep my phone where I can reach it and keep it fully charged as much as possible. After this encounter, it has become a habit.”
