Trump will speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Feb. 28, during which he will talk about the future of the Republican Party and lessons learned for 2020, former senior adviser to President Trump Jason Miller said Saturday (Feb. 20).
Miller told Newsmax Saturday that Trump intends to share his views on growing Republican support for his “America First” agenda and how the GOP can win in the 2022 and 2024 elections.
I think you’re going to hear President Trump next Sunday the 28th talking about the future of the Republican Party and the lessons we learned in 2020 when we saw President Trump bring in a record number of African-American and Latino voter supporters,” Miller said. That’s more numbers than we’ve seen in recent Republican presidential election history. We have to get these voters involved in this party.”
Other confirmed speakers at the event, included South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and former acting National Security Advisor Richard Grenell.
Fox News reported Sunday (Feb. 21) that former Vice President Pence declined an invitation to attend the conservative conference.
Trump spoke out against the rising influence of socialism in 2020, which was the theme of last year’s conference. The former president warned of the agenda of far-left radicals and its impact on the United States.
“Far-left radicals are becoming more and more impatient and dangerous in their quest to transform America into a country you don’t recognize,” Trump said at the Time, referring to the fact that “like socialist and communist movements around the world, they are suppressing all dissent and demanding absolute unanimity from people (with them). They want total control.”
Trump warned that if socialist policies are allowed to flourish, they “will soon turn the United States into a large Venezuela.”
Current and former Trump advisers have said the former president intends to spend time and money to help Republicans take back the House and Senate in 2022.
The Republican Party is currently evaluating its path forward after Trump leaves office.
While some Republicans, including Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), have called for their party to move past Trump, a large number of Republicans believe that supporting the former president and his policies, such as his “America First” agenda, is the way forward.
Trump made a powerful statement earlier this week criticizing McConnell’s leadership and saying the Republican Party would not succeed if it followed McConnell’s lead.
Trump: “He (McConnell) will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our country. Where necessary and appropriate, I will support the leading contenders who embrace ‘Make America Great Again’ and our ‘America First’ policy. We need brilliant, strong, thoughtful and well-intentioned leaders.”
“The Georgia election was a disaster, and we should have won two seats in the U.S. Senate. But McConnell changed the $2,000 stimulus check offered by the Democrats to $600. How does that work?” The former president added. “It’s become an ad for the Democrats and makes them the big winner.”
Trump added that under McConnell’s leadership, the Republican Party “will never do the work necessary to ensure a free and fair electoral system.”
