Texans who have previously purchased generators are fortunate in that they can usually use natural gas as a fuel to generate electricity during such power outages. If the incentive to purchase solar panels were used to purchase backup generators, much of the pain could be alleviated in the future.
The energy crisis in Texas exposes the absurdity of green energy whims. Green energy cannot support electric vehicles because there is no medium that can store such a large amount of energy available for instant use. If Texas had invested more consistently in coal and natural gas as a broader energy base, the grid would be less likely to collapse. The crises in both Texas and California have been linked to a long history of demonizing energy production, even though the two states have different political environments.
