A research team from the Department of Geology of North Korea’s Kim Il Sung University recently discovered a 130 million-year-old bird fossil in the North Pyongan Province region of North Korea, which North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un named the “Baekdu bird.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, the North Korean archaeological team recently unearthed a fossil of a pre-Cretaceous bird of the middle generation, including the skull, toe bones, 11 flying feathers and small wings are clearly visible and in good condition. Kim Jong-un named the fossil “Baekdu Bird” and instructed that the object be put on display in a nature museum.

According to the report, North Korea also unearthed a 150-million-year-old bird fossil in 1989 in the Sinuiju area, which was named the “Ancestral Bird of Korea” by then Supreme Leader Kim Il Sung, and claimed that North Korea is the birthplace of modern birds.

In addition, Paleolithic relics were found in the Dondong River basin in Pyongyang and the DPRK claimed that the Dondong River civilization was one of the five major civilizations in the world along with the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Indus Valley and Yellow River civilizations.
