Former Ohio Republican Party Chairman Jane Timken (R)
On Thursday (18), former Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken officially announced her campaign for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat to defend the Trump agenda after Ohio Republican Senator Rob Portman declared that he would not seek re-election.
Timken released a video launching her campaign in which she said, “Washington right now is taking away the freedom of my children and your children …… We can’t let America be a socialist country.”
“In your defense, I am running for a Senate seat, just as I stood by former President Trump and supported his America First agenda to create jobs and bring manufacturing back to our shores.” Timken said, “When I was chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, I purged the establishment represented by former Republican Governor John Kasich, who tried to elect Hillary Clinton and Biden.”
Timken slammed Kasich, who not only refused to endorse Trump in 2016 and 2020, but went so far as to speak in favor of Biden at the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
Timken added that she united the state’s Republican Party and delivered two decisive victories for Trump in the state. Ohio has long been a swing state and a bellwether for presidential elections, with Trump winning by 8 points in the state in 2016 and 2020.
In addition to the video, Timken released a campaign statement that focused on rebuking the Biden Administration, particularly its soft approach to the Chinese Communist Party and its Amnesty for the estimated 11 million to 22 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Timken warned that the United States is embracing socialist policies and that she seeks to be a “conservative spoiler” of such policies.
“I absolutely cannot stand by and let Biden and the socialist left do this to our country, to the workers of Ohio, to our children.” In her statement, Timken said she will once again stand up for the Trump agenda, stop socialism once and for all and defend all Ohioans.
Timken is the second prominent Republican to join the “crowded primary field” for the Ohio Senate seat, according to The Hill. Last week, former Ohio Treasurer and Marine Corps veteran Josh Mandel also challenged for the seat.
