Hu Xijin covers up China’s concealment of military casualties, Indian netizens blast

Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Chinese Communist Party‘s official media Global Times, tweeted on social media Thursday (Feb. 18) in an attempt to cover up the Communist Party’s delay in releasing the number and list of dead Chinese soldiers with a remark about giving India face, resulting in a mass bombardment by Indian netizens.

“I didn’t expect the Chinese Communist military to be so considerate and take care of the enemy’s face …… Communists think people all over the world are fools.” One of the Indian netizens wrote.

Last June, the worst deadly clashes between China and India in 45 years erupted in the Galwan Valley, the western section of the border, leaving at least 20 Indian soldiers dead. But the Chinese Communist Party has dragged its feet for eight months before releasing the alleged number and list of dead and wounded.

Four Chinese soldiers died in the Garhwan Valley clashes last year; the Chinese (Communist Party) military announced their names today,” Hu Xijin wrote in a tweet Thursday. The delayed announcement shows the goodwill of the Chinese side not to further irritate India. This is the gesture of a strong man.”

In another tweet, Hu Xijin also tried to refute a statement reported in the Indian media by Admiral YK Joshi, commander of India’s Northern Army, who confirmed that the death toll of Chinese soldiers in the June clashes was at least 45.

“Lies. As far as I know, the death toll of Chinese soldiers in the Garvan Valley was in single digits. The Chinese side did not release the exact number to avoid embarrassing the Indian military. This guy (referring to the Indian high command) is obviously fabricating the numbers.” Hu Xijin wrote.

Apparently, Hu Xijin’s tweet was in sync with the domestic propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party media. Chinese Communist Party officials disclosed for the first Time to the public on Thursday that only four soldiers were killed and one was seriously injured in the clashes between China and India that erupted in the Garhwan River Valley on the border last June.

The article published by the Chinese military media “PLA Daily” (titled “A closer look at the heroic soldiers and officers defending the country in the new era: Heroes stand in Karakorum”) reinforces the so-called heroism of soldiers defending the country and “doing whatever the Party wants” by making up stories and distorting facts. The report attempts to recreate and guide the Communist Party’s heroes and steel warriors in public opinion.

At the same time, the report also once again put the blame on the Indian side for the conflict. The report said that the Chinese chief, in good faith to negotiate a solution, brought only a few officers and soldiers to intervene and was attacked by the Indian side with violence.

In fact, not only India, but also U.S., Russian and Japanese intelligence agencies have confirmed that at least four dozen Chinese soldiers were killed in the bloody clashes in June. But Chinese officials have refused to disclose details, acknowledge the number of casualties, or publicly console the dead Chinese soldiers.

Hu Xijin turns black and white, Indian netizens hit back sharply

Hu Xijin’s black-and-white tweets on Thursday once again prompted Indian netizens to gather around and leave comments.

The Chinese (Communist Party of China) is trying to avoid embarrassing India, so they don’t announce the soldiers who died in the war, where is this happening? “

Netizen @GoelSilvi also replied to Hu Xi Jin saying, “To you, I have nothing more to say, but there is one thing you must learn from the Indians – accept and congratulate your brave soldiers and let the whole world see it. If you do it behind closed doors, it means nothing.”

Netizen @Nitish_Shukla, on the other hand, ridiculed Hu Xijin’s claim as simply untenable. “China attacks India, tries to annex land by force, and kills Indian soldiers in the conflict, but won’t release your own casualty figures, saying it’s to avoid embarrassing us?” The netizen asked rhetorically. “Either that or they’re lying.”

Netizen @gosaliya_ashik went further to expose this as CCP propaganda. “If you (Hu Xijin) tell us that Garhwan is now under Chinese control and that not a single Chinese soldier has died, we will also accept your lies. Because in the final analysis, you lie because your generals first said so. It’s really strange how the Chinese Communist Foreign Ministry has outsourced the diplomatic work on the India-China borderline to the Global Times. Hilarious!”

Netizen @kausticc sarcastically said of Hu Xijin, “I didn’t expect the CCP military to be so considerate and take care of the enemy’s face …… The Communist Party thinks people all over the world are fools.”

Netizen @krishnakant_75, on the other hand, showed different contradictory tweets from Hu Xijin from last year to this year. “At the time of the incident, you said that there were zero casualty figures for Chinese soldiers; now you admit that there were Chinese casualties, but in single digits; (presumably) wait a few more months and you will admit the actual number of casualties. Seems like wisdom and facts are particularly slow in coming to you.”
