New York State Assembly Republicans began impeachment proceedings against Governor Cuomo on Thursday

The Gateway Pundit reported Thursday that Republican lawmakers announced the resolution to form an impeachment committee that day, the first step toward impeaching and ousting Cuomo. The move comes after New York Senate Democrats on Wednesday moved to strip Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of his Epidemic emergency powers.

On Thursday, New York Assembly Republicans announced a resolution creating an impeachment committee of eight bipartisan lawmakers that will have 60 days to conduct its work and submit its findings and recommendations to the state Legislature, Newsweek reported.

In a statement, New York State House Minority Leader Republican William Barclay said, “The Cuomo administration’s cover-up of the nursing Home issue is one of the most egregious scandals we have seen in state government, and it is incumbent upon the Legislature to conduct a full bipartisan review of the Cuomo administration’s policies, decisions and actions in this matter and to make recommendations on what steps must be taken to be taken to hold the governor accountable.”

The FBI and Brooklyn district attorneys are reportedly investigating Governor Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes during the CCP virus outbreak.

Thousands of nursing home residents in New York have died as a result of Cuomo’s orders to return patients to nursing homes with the CCP virus. Last Thursday, an audio was leaked in which senior aides to New York Governor Cuomo admitted to deliberately hiding the number of nursing home deaths caused by the CCP virus in New York State from lawmakers and apologized.

At a press conference Monday, Cuomo accused “conspiracy theories” and “misinformation” and called the nursing home scandal a “political make-up,” while also placing blame on health care workers.
