Chinese Communist Party Forced Anal Testing U.S. Diplomats in China Also “Humiliated”

Forced anal testing of people in Beijing and other places in China to prevent epidemics has been described as a “highly humiliating” human rights violation that even foreigners in China are not immune to. According to U.S. media reports, some U.S. diplomatic officials have also been forced to “suffer humiliation” and the State Department has taken a stand to preserve the “dignity” of officials.

On Wednesday (Feb. 17), The Washington Post reported that some U.S. diplomats in China complained that they had to undergo anal swab testing by the Chinese government, an invasive process that is “offensive” to the diplomats, in a report on the “humiliation” of officials abroad due to the U.S. government’s lack of vaccine distribution.

A State Department spokesman responded to the issue of anal testing of diplomats by saying the State Department is evaluating “all reasonable options” to preserve the “dignity” of U.S. officials in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Although the Biden administration has repeatedly stated that it will continue to adopt a tough policy toward the Chinese Communist Party, its specific actions have been criticized by Republicans as weak.

According to previous reports in the Korean media, some U.S. diplomats are treated less favorably in China than some South Korean citizens.

Korean media reported that a South Korean who was notified in early January that “everyone must take off their underwear for anal testing” at a quarantined hotel in Beijing immediately called the South Korean embassy in Beijing for help and was eventually allowed to have a fecal sample tested instead of an anal sample.

According to a recent report by The Japanese Fuji News Network (FNN), Japanese people entering China recently have also become the target of anal testing by the Chinese Communist Party.

The German Foreign Ministry has also upgraded its travel alert for China, warning that Germans entering the country could be subject to mandatory quarantine for several weeks and even face “invasive medical examinations.
