Jaguar Land Rover parent company intends to lay off 2,000 employees in the next 1 year

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a subsidiary of Britain’s largest automaker, said it is reviewing its organizational structure and expects to lay off 2,000 monthly-paid employees, or non-factory employees, globally in the next year, starting next fiscal year (April 1); adding that the company’s review does not include hourly-paid employees, or those in manufacturing.

Jaguar Land Rover’s parent company is India’s Tata Motors, which, like other traditional car makers, is under pressure to transition to electric vehicles. Jaguar in the past to high-performance coupe known, hope that the development of electric vehicles can maintain the fuel car and sports car driving feeling; Land Rover plans to launch six pure electric models in the next five years, the first will be launched in 2024.
