Trump’s comeback; McConnell’s anti-Trump tragedy; Biden defends Communist China, Pompeo lambastes echoes Xi Jinping

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has not only been boycotted by the Republican Party after denouncing former President Trump, but even asked him to resign as Senate Republican leader.

Rush Limbaugh, a well-known conservative radio host in the United States, died of lung cancer on Wednesday (Feb. 17), and Trump was interviewed by the media to express his condolences.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and senators condemned the Biden administration for its rhetoric and lack of practice after Biden publicly made excuses for human rights violations by the Chinese Communist Party on Tuesday.

Biden’s administration proposes to untie the Confucius Institute, and House Republican leaders write a joint letter against it on Wednesday.

After condemning Trump, Senate Republican leader McConnell urged to resign

On Saturday (13), U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) issued a condemnation of Trump (Trump), saying he was responsible for the Jan. 6 congressional riots. The Republican Party of Nelson County, Kentucky (Nelson County) issued a statement Tuesday (16), calling for McConnell’s resignation as Senate Republican leader.

Don Thrasher, chairman of the Nelson County Republican Party, said in a written statement Tuesday, “I will not take this action lightly, and I understand the consequences of doing so.” He also mentioned that he had received a statement from Trump about McConnell’s leadership position.

Thrasher said, “As the highest-ranking Republican in that position, you (McConnell) are, in effect, the leader of the national Republican Party.” “The vast majority of Nelson County Republicans are not on your side on this issue, and I am speaking for them.”

He also wrote that McConnell’s “leadership position does not represent the Republican voters who believed in you in the last primary,” before calling for the Senate Republican leader’s resignation.

On Tuesday night, Trump issued a statement through his Save America super PAC calling on Republican senators to abandon McConnell and suggesting that Republican incumbents would face a major challenge.

In the statement, Trump said, “Where necessary and appropriate, I will endorse key candidates who support ‘Make America Great Again’ and ‘America First’ policies. We need leaders who are exceptional, strong, thoughtful and compassionate.”

Most famous radio anchor dies, Trump mourns in media interview

Rush Limbaugh, America’s most famous conservative radio host, died of lung cancer on Wednesday (Feb. 17) at the age of 70.

Former President Donald Trump (Trump) was interviewed by Fox News on the same day to pay tribute to Limbaugh’s memory. This is Trump’s first comeback and media interview since he left office as president on Jan. 20. Because of the blocking of social media Twitter and Facebook, Trump’s messages are almost always sent through his former presidential office or through employees around him on his behalf.

Pictured are President Trump and prominent conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh on Nov. 5, 2018. Rush Limbaugh held a “Make America Great Again” rally in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Trump told Fox News, “(We) don’t have a lot of legends around, but he (Limbaugh) is a legend” and “he has tremendous insight.”

Trump had awarded Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his State of the Union address in February 2020, when Limbaugh had just been diagnosed with terminal stage 4 lung cancer.

Trump introduced Limbaugh to Congress at the Time, saying he was a special guest that night, “beloved by millions of Americans, and he had just been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. That’s not good news, but the good news is that he’s the greatest fighter and winner ever.”

Trump said Wednesday that Limbaugh said the unexpected Presidential Medal of Freedom was “the greatest honor of his Life.

Trump said, “Limbaugh was very sick at the time. He was being treated at a hospital in Boston …… It was a very difficult thing for him to get to Washington from where he was staying, but he came anyway.”

Trump again recalled the scene saying that Limbaugh was treated with respect by the members of the conference. Trump said, “One hundred percent of the people in that room respected Limbaugh.”

Pictured is Rush Limbaugh, a prominent conservative radio talk show host, being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom during President Trump’s State of the Union address on Feb. 4, 2020.

In fact, after Trump announced that he was awarding Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Limbaugh froze and then stood up. All the Republicans at the State of the Union address applauded and cheered, but the Democrats remained seated.

When First Lady Melania put the Medal of Freedom on Limbaugh, someone shouted, “Thank you, Limbaugh.”

Limbaugh shook Melania’s hand amid applause and turned to President Trump and punched his chest with his hand in tribute, while President Trump gave him a thumbs-up and a nod from the podium.

Trump said Limbaugh had wanted to stay on the air until after the 2020 presidential election.

“His desire is to stick around until after the election,” Trump said. “He works very hard and rarely misses a show on air …… He worked very hard to stick around until after the election, and he’s just amazing. He got his wish.”

Limbaugh’s broadcasting job requires him to work five days a week, three hours a day on air, a very heavy workload, plus he is particularly dedicated and demanding of himself, so that he receives treatment and keeps working at the same time, although he has long been worth more than a billion dollars.

He himself once said: “Life is busy. Every day, I have to think about big things and small things, and I have to take on all kinds of responsibilities. To be able to have time to think about why human life is so special and precious: it’s because this life only comes once, and every minute wasted is a loss that cannot be recovered.”

Trump also praised Limbaugh for his love of America.

Trump said, “He loves this country very much, he loves the people of this country very much.”

Limbaugh was a household name in the United States as a conservative radio talk show host who supported radio programs for more than 50 years and had more than 13 million listeners, making him the radio host with the largest audience in the United States.

U.S. netizens have described him as a rare man of understanding. Below are some excerpts of Limbaugh’s remarks.

Of the so-called American mainstream media, he said, “I’ve never seen the media like it is today. It’s almost unspeakable: making up stories and refusing to print the truth. It all makes them look like complete fools themselves. There is no media spirit, no real media, just pure and utter propaganda.”

Of the Internet age, where everyone sends news but there is no way to tell if it is true or not, he said.

“It’s alarming to think that so many people are getting their news from social media platforms.”

Of big government, he never expressed trust because he believed that.

“True prosperity comes from every citizen coming together in a growth mode; it comes from people’s own heartfelt raw motivation and effort. If prosperity is bestowed from the government, it’s not prosperity, you can call it an existence or a maintenance or whatever you want to call it, but it’s not prosperity.”

Commenting on the American left, which was influenced to the hilt by the communist factor, he said.

“Everything on the left is sensation, manipulation and lies, everything. Everything is grabbed at one point and then amplified as needed regardless of the rest. Everything is modest deception.”

To the true conservatives, he said.

“Let me tell you what kind of people we conservatives are: we love people. When we look at the United States of America, when we’re everywhere, when we see a group of people, whether it’s here or wherever, we see them all as Americans. We see them all as people just like us. We never see any group of people as other. We never make no mistake about it.”

Biden on Chinese Communist Human Rights Abuses, Pompeo and Senators Respond

Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday (Feb. 17) that President Biden’s comments Tuesday about the Chinese Communist Party’s human rights abuses against minorities and political dissidents echoed “Chinese Communist propaganda.”

Pompeo’s comments refer to Biden’s appearance on a CNN-sponsored town hall television program Tuesday (Feb. 16), in which he referred to human rights abuses by the Chinese Communist Party.

In his remarks, Biden said he talked about human rights during a two-hour phone call with Xi Jinping last week. He said he and Xi mentioned the Chinese Communist Party’s actions in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, as well as the Taiwan issue. But Biden followed up by saying, “Culturally, every country has different norms that they expect their leaders to abide by.”

The remarks raised questions from Republicans and conservatives. In an interview Wednesday on the Fox News program “Mornings with Maria,” former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “The kind of discourse that says this is just a different set of norms is the Chinese [Communist Party] propaganda line. They (the Chinese Communist Party) want you to think it’s just a quiet country with a system that may be a little bit different.”

Pompeo said, “The truth of the matter is that they (the Chinese Communist Party) are trying to destroy an entire nation.”

Republican U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty of Tennessee tweeted Wednesday in response to Biden’s Tuesday speech, “Why is our president making excuses for the Chinese Communist Party’s predatory behavior?”

Republican Rapid Response Director Tommy Pigott also tweeted, “Why is Joe Biden trying to justify China’s (CCP) human rights abuses?”

Pigott said, “In discussing China’s (CCP) actions in Hong Kong and the genocide of the Uighurs, Biden shamefully stated that ‘norms are culturally different (in each country).'”

Pompeo urged Biden not to be all talk and no action.

Pompeo said, “Maybe Xi got the fact that this administration (the Biden Administration) now is only going to talk about this issue (meaning human rights issues), raise this issue ‘because I (Biden) have to talk about it,’ and not act on it.”

Pompeo cited the Trump Administration‘s actions on Tibet and Hong Kong and expressed hope that the Biden administration “will not treat China [the Chinese Communist Party] as a country with slightly different norms.”

In an interview with Fox News, Republican U.S. Senator Tom Cotton said it was not enough for Biden to criticize former President Trump’s (China) policies without outlining his own plans.

Biden proposes loosening Confucius Institute, but Republicans balk

Four Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), sent a letter to President Biden on Feb. 17 urging him to adopt the Trump administration’s policy of tightening restrictions on Confucius Institutes.

Voice of America reports that the Trump policy requires U.S. colleges, universities, schools and kindergartens to disclose any agreements, partnerships or financial transactions with Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms. The regulations also apply to other cultural institutions affiliated with the Chinese (Communist) government, such as the China Students and Scholars Association.

Although the Trump administration has attempted to introduce the rule, it has not yet completed final consideration at the time of the transition and has not been submitted to the Federal Register for public notice.

The White House said that similar to previous administrations, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain issued a memo freezing all regulatory proceedings on Presidential Inauguration Day, meaning that regulations that have not completed consideration will automatically be withdrawn and need to be resubmitted.

Earlier reports that the rule was quietly withdrawn by the Biden administration sparked discontent among many Republicans who felt the Biden administration was soft on China (the Chinese Communist Party).

In a letter to Biden, four congressional Republicans said they understand that the Trump administration’s proposed rule was not finalized and could be withdrawn by the new administration during a broad assessment of the administration’s policies, but that the integrity of the U.S. academic system should be a priority agenda and urged Biden to resubmit the rule “as soon as possible” and “without delay. “without delay.”

They also quoted Biden as having said last week, “If we don’t act, they will eat our lunch.”

The letter reads, “Among the various threats we face originating in China, the (Chinese Communist Party’s) misuse of the U.S. academic system to steal sensitive research and technology, restrict free speech and propagandize against our students is particularly troubling.”

Pictured are the offices of the Confucius Institute on the University of North Florida campus.

The letter states that the Confucius Institute ostensibly promotes cultural and language programs between the two countries, but in reality would jeopardize academic freedom on U.S. campuses by requiring that the agreement arrangement be subject to laws enacted by the Chinese Communist Party, censoring information on behalf of the CCP and creating a conflict of interest for the institute’s administrators.

The lawmakers expressed their willingness to work with the Biden administration to develop a bipartisan and government-wide solution to the threat posed by the CCP to U.S. educational and academic integrity.

According to the National Association of Scholars, 64 Confucius Institutes have closed or are in the process of closing across the United States as of February 17 of this year, with 55 still in operation, including three colleges and universities that plan to close Confucius Institutes this year.

He Qingchuan: U.S. Debt Approaches $28 Trillion

U.S. scholar He Qingchain wrote in a tweet that the U.S. Congress is so busy falsifying evidence to impeach the former president that “very few people care and worry about the huge debt crisis and existential crisis this country is facing. The number is now close to $28 trillion and is growing at a rate of $2 trillion per year. Representatives of public opinion debate whether to borrow another $1 trillion or even $2 trillion without worrying about where the money will come from and how it will be repaid.”

She further said that the Biden administration is busy opening the country to refugees, which of course requires more money.
