WHO announces 16% reduction in new confirmed cases of new coronary heart disease worldwide

The World health Organization announced that the number of new infections of the new coronavirus has fallen globally for the fifth consecutive week. The latest report shows only half of the 5 million new confirmed cases recorded in the previous week of Jan. 4.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced Tuesday night, Feb. 16, that the number of cases dropped 16 percent, or 2.7 million new cases, based on new cases of neo-coronavirus Covid-19 confirmed worldwide last week.

According to the World Health Organization’s weekly epidemiological update, the number of new deaths reported in patients with the new coronavirus also fell from the previous week, according to data available through Sunday

Five of the six global regions counted by the WHO reported new cases declining at a double-digit rate; only the Mediterranean region of the Middle East saw new cases, which increased by 7 percent.

Last week, the number of new cases fell by 20 percent in both Africa and the Western Pacific, 18 percent in Europe, 16 percent in the Americas and 13 percent in Southeast Asia.

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also noted on Monday that the number of new infections of the new coronavirus worldwide has fallen for the fifth consecutive week. The number of new infections is only half of the 5 million new cases recorded the week before, on Jan. 4.

He said this shows that even though there is a serious problem with the new coronavirus variants, it can actually work by simply following those public health measures to prevent the Epidemic.

What is important now is how we respond to this trend,” he added. The New Coronavirus fire has not been extinguished, but we have scaled back the scope of the fire. But if we stop fighting it on any front, then the neo-coronavirus will come back with renewed vigor.”
