Former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden‘s appeasement policy toward the Chinese Communist Party in an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday (Feb. 17).
Speaking at a CNN town hall Tuesday night, President Biden said he would not hold China (the Chinese Communist Party) accountable, as the Trump Administration has, because China under the Communist Party is a sovereign nation with “different norms.
Asked by the moderator what he thought of Biden’s statement, Trump responded that Biden’s Family was coerced by China and the Chinese Communist Party.
“His family has been involved with China for a long Time and for a huge amount of money,” Trump said. Trump said.
Trump has long been known for his tough stance against the Chinese Communist Party, which under its rule has become the greatest threat to the U.S. during his tenure, and there has been a bipartisan consensus in the United States.
Trump on Wednesday apparently intended to contrast his previous policy toward the Chinese Communist Party: “The whole thing is ridiculous. We have China [the Chinese Communist Party] exactly where we want it to be.” Meaning that he didn’t think Biden was hard enough on the CCP, and that he disapproved of Biden’s pacification policy turn toward the CCP.
Trump was also pressed three times by the moderator on whether he plans to run again in 2024, but he chose to avoid answering each time.
The last time Trump finally responded, “I won’t say yet, but we have tremendous support.”
What Biden said about China at CNN’s town hall meeting
Appearing on a CNN-sponsored town hall TV show Tuesday night, Biden mentioned a two-hour call he had just last week with Xi Jinping. He said he and Xi mentioned China’s actions in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, as well as the Taiwan issue.
Pressed by the host on whether he talked about human rights in the Communist Party of China, Biden said it was important for the United States to speak out for human rights, which is what the United States is all about.
Biden then said that if one knows anything about Chinese history, Chinese (Communist Party) leader Xi Jinping’s core principle is that “China must be unified and tightly controlled.
“I pointed out to him that if the president of the United States does not reflect American values, he is not a competent president,” Biden said. Biden said. “So those who think that I’m not going to oppose his (Xi Jinping’s) actions in Hong Kong, his actions with the Uighurs in western China and Taiwan, his attempts to achieve a one-China Policy through strong-arm tactics – I spoke to Xi Jinping, and he said he understood. “
“Culturally, each country has different norms and expects their leaders to follow them.” Biden said at the time.
In fact, CCP foreign propaganda has always used unification as a reason to wantonly deny human rights and universal values within China; it has also used unification as a reason to demand that foreign governments not criticize the CCP’s human rights.
Immediately afterward, Biden introduced himself by saying that he had traveled more than 17,000 miles with Xi Jinping, then vice president of the Communist Party, when he was vice president.
“At the request of President Hu Jintao – and I’m not kidding – Hu was Xi’s predecessor, as well as President Obama, wanted us (meaning Biden and Xi) to get to know each other as Xi Jinping would become president. ” Biden said.
Finally, pressed by the host on exactly what specific actions the White House would take on human rights, Biden replied that his administration would reaffirm the U.S. role as a spokesman for human rights at the United Nations and other bodies, adding that China (the Chinese Communist Party) cannot win the trust of other countries if it wants to be a world leader and still engages in activities that violate basic human rights.
“It’s complicated as hell. I shouldn’t have to spend 10 minutes on television talking about China policy.” Biden concluded in his last sentence.
