Pompeo urges Biden: should confront the Chinese Communist Party head-on, like Trump

Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the Biden administration must confront the Chinese Communist Party as head-on as the former Trump administration did on Feb. 12.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the Biden Administration must confront the Chinese Communist Party as head-on as the former Trump Administration did. Republican senators also urged Biden to fully understand the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party and confront it as soon as possible.

In an interview on Fox News’ “The Faulkner Focus” last Friday (Feb. 12), Pompeo said, “For 50 years, the United States has allowed the Chinese Communist Party to lord it over us, to destroy millions of jobs here [in the U.S.], to steal intellectual property, to infiltrate into the Chinese market, to steal the Chinese market, to steal the Chinese market. They’ve stolen intellectual property and infiltrated our research institutions. Frankly, all of this happened under both Republican and Democratic presidents (prior to Trump’s presidency).”

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, said on Fox Business News’ “Mornings with Maria” on Friday, “We are working every day to protect American companies, American innovators and intellectual property that have been adversely affected by the Chinese Communist Party. American companies, American innovators and intellectual property holders who are adversely affected by the Chinese Communist Party.”

She said, “China [the Chinese Communist Party] is not our friend, they are our adversary. They practice civil-military integration.”

Pompeo: Chinese Communist Party Launches All-Out Attack on U.S.

Last Wednesday, Biden spoke with Xi Jinping for the first Time, and Pompeo made comments on Friday urging the Biden administration to confront the CCP head-on.

Pompeo stressed the importance of the Biden administration’s response to the Chinese Communist threat. He recalled the Chinese Communist Party’s infiltration of the United States that he saw during his tenure as secretary of state.

He told Fox News that he was secretary of state for two and a half years and spoke with government officials at the state level, including governors. “I went to the Wisconsin State Capitol and they (the Chinese Communist Party) were trying to influence our state legislature. We saw what happened in California with (Rep.) Eric Swalwell.”

On Dec. 8, U.S. media outlet Axios reported that Fang (a.k.a. Christine Fang) was unusually active in California politics from 2011 to 2015, specializing in scouring the Bay Area and the nation for promising political recruits. U.S. counterintelligence officials say they believe Fang’s superior was the Chinese Communist Ministry of State Security (MSS). One of the targets Fang has worked hardest to reach is young California Congressman Eric Swalwell.

Pompeo said, “This is an all-out attack on the United States.”

Pompeo: Biden needs to show action to protect Americans

After his inauguration as president, Biden has said that the Chinese Communist Party is the most serious competitor of the United States, but does not rule out cooperation with the Chinese side in the interests of the United States.

After the Bay-Xi call, the White House issued a statement saying, “President Biden reaffirmed his top priorities of protecting the security, prosperity, health and way of Life of the American people and preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific.” President Biden emphasized his primary concerns about Beijing‘s coercive and unfair economic practices, its crackdown on Hong Kong, its human rights abuses in Xinjiang, and its increasingly arbitrary actions against other regions, including Taiwan.

Pompeo said President Biden’s vow to protect Americans from the Chinese Communist Party will only be meaningful if the current administration is prepared to take action.

He went on to cite some of the Trump administration’s actions against the Chinese Communist Party. “When they Houston (CCP) consulate spied on us, we shut them down. When they engage in unfair trade practices, we impose tariffs on them. Wherever our livelihood is involved, our government is concerned. That’s what they (the Biden administration) need to go and do.” Pompeo said.

He concluded that the biggest threat to the United States is the Chinese Communist Party, and that the Biden administration needs to confront it “head on” as the Trump administration has done.

Senators Call on Biden Administration to Support Clean Sweep Plan

Last Thursday (Feb. 11), Biden mentioned at the White House that he had a two-hour conversation with Xi Jinping. If we don’t act, they [the Chinese Communist Party] will eat our lunch (defeat us completely),” he said.

Blackburn responded to Biden’s comments by saying she hoped Biden’s understanding of the CCP would be reflected by the choices his cabinet and administration make.

She said huawei needs to remain banned and that they (Huawei products) are not needed in the (network) systems of either the United States or allied countries. “We work every day to protect American companies, American innovators and intellectual property holders who have been adversely affected by the Chinese Communist Party.”

“We need to continue to get this administration to support former Secretary of State Pompeo’s plan to clean up the net. The sooner President Biden realizes this and the sooner he acknowledges it and confronts the Chinese Communist Party, the better off this country [the United States] will be and the better off our innovators and manufacturers will be.”

Blackburn added that in Tennessee, manufacturers often report that their intellectual property is being stolen by the Chinese Communist Party.

She said the CCP is also building its own database, “Big China [the CCP], big tech [companies], big media, they’re all together.”

Blackburn referred to her own bill to protect Americans’ data, the BROWSER Act, which she said would deny the Chinese Communist Party access to Americans’ data and prevent big technology companies from using it.
