South Morning reports that over 100 people have successfully obtained BNO passports

The BNO visa for Hong Kong people has officially opened for two weeks, there is news that there have been more than a hundred successful applications, and there are Hong Kong people in the opening day of the application (January 31) application, the next day that was successfully approved. Some applicants said when filling out the form, not only to check the past 10 years of travel records, but also to answer whether they have made acts against the national security of the United Kingdom and its allies.

The South China Morning Post reported that sources said more than a hundred applications for BNO visas have been approved, and quoted the chairman of the British Overseas Chinese Association, Cheng Man-kit, as saying that a small number of people have been approved for visas, and some even applied on the day the application was opened and were successfully approved the next day. However, some applicants said that the people who can be approved quickly are the Hong Kong people who have entered the UK through LOTR earlier, still in Hong Kong, the application is still not approved. A spokesman for the British Home Office said that figures relating to BNO visas would be announced in due course.

According to the report, an interviewee also applied for a visa on January 31 and was told that the Time required for visa approval was 12 weeks. He said it took about three hours to fill in the online form, although it was not too complicated. The trickiest part was to fill in the past 10 years of travel records, and to provide proof of a tuberculosis test, a short-term UK address and financial proof. Another interviewee said that part of the form asked whether the applicant had worked in the police, armed forces, media or judiciary, and whether he or she had acted against the national security of the UK and its allies during his or her employment or in other circumstances, and with or without charge.

In addition, some applicants fill out the form online and want to make an appointment to provide fingerprints at the North Point Visa Centre, but has to be scheduled until March, when the British government may have opened a cell phone application for Hong Kong people to apply for visas. At present, many Hong Kong people tend to use cell phone application. The British government announced earlier that applicants can apply for visas through the “UK Immigration: ID Check” mobile application from February 23, just scan their biometric passport to complete the procedure, without having to visit the visa application center.
