California senators call for gun ban Local officials: people have the right to defend themselves

Recently, California’s new State Senator David Min introduced a proposal that seeks to ban the buying and selling of guns, ammunition and other activities throughout California. In response, Orange County Commissioner Wagner pointed out that the right to own a gun is guaranteed by the Constitution and also provides people with the ability to defend themselves. Read the story.

State Senator David Min, a Democrat representing California’s 37th District, recently introduced SB264, which advocates a statewide ban on gun shows. He believes it would stop gun violence from happening.

In response, Orange County County Commissioner Wagner pointed out that according to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, people have the right to legally own guns. In addition, due to the deteriorating security in California, and the state continues to reduce the penalties for prisoners, has forced many people must own guns to protect their own safety.

Orange County County Commissioner Don Wagner: “I think there’s no excuse for the fact that people are afraid for their lives and want to protect themselves and their families. I think they have the right to buy and sell guns, and they should do it, and they should do it responsibly.”

In addition to proposing a ban on gun shows, Min David is also trying to ban the buying and selling of guns across the state. In response, some people believe that Min David’s theory has many misconceptions and violates civil rights. Moreover, once a total gun ban is imposed, good people’s guns are taken away, but criminals can still obtain them illegally, and people will then be at risk as a result.

According to 2020 statistics, one of the nation’s strictest gun control areas, Washington, D.C., had 198 homicide deaths, including 167 from gunshots; the relatively lax state of Virginia had 36 homicides, including 26 from gunshots, a difference of more than six times.

Orange County County Commissioner Don Wagner: “As far as I know, there is little legitimate scientific research that goes to show that gun shows have triggered the tragedy that gun violence has brought in the last few years.”” This will not solve the problem of gun violence, because those who don’t abide by the law and shoot people, will certainly not abide by the regulations that ban guns. And those who are law-abiding, we can certainly trust them to use, collect and learn to use guns responsibly.”

In fact, California’s AB 893, passed in 2019, already ended the Western Fork Gun Show in San Diego. Now, SB 264, which seeks to impose statewide regulation, will be heard by the California Senate’s Public Safety Committee in the next few months.
