Graham: will meet with Trump to discuss the future of the Republican Party

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says he is planning to meet with former President Donald Trump (R-Texas) to discuss the future of the Republican Party.

Graham told reporters in Washington DC on Friday (Feb. 12) that he wants Trump to work with Republicans to try to make the GOP flip the House and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections.

“I’m going to try to convince him, ‘We can’t do it (flip the House and Senate) without you, but you can’t keep the Trump movement going without Republican unity.'” Graham said.

“Trump has to work with everybody,” Graham added, “and you’ve got to put your best team on the battlefield …… If you put your best team on the battlefield, we’ve got a decent chance of coming back. “

Trump senior adviser Jason Miller said last month on the former White House chief strategist’s political show War Room that Trump will “make sure” Republicans win the House in 2022.

Miller said Trump has a lot of financial support, he has a big reputation and “he’s going to get that done.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach on Jan. 28.

Trump’s team said the two discussed several topics, but the top priority was “taking back the House” for Republicans in the 2022 midterm elections.

“Trump’s popularity has never been stronger than it is today,” Trump’s team said, “and his endorsement (of the endorsement) means more than perhaps any Time, any endorsement.”

The Trump team added: “Trump has agreed to work with Leader McCarthy to help make the Republicans the majority party in the House (of Representatives) (election).”

Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. urged Republicans on Feb. 9 to step up and address election integrity issues or they will never win another election.

In a Feb. 9 interview on Fox News’ “Laura Ingraham Show,” Donald Jr. said Republican lawmakers had better learn from this and make sure “we really have fairness in our elections, make sure we really get things right” and make sure they can’t be manipulated in this way. Otherwise, they won’t even be able to hold on to their seats in a few years.
