On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Lucasfilm fired conservative actress Gina Carano over a social media post. The hashtag “Cancel Disney Plus” (#CancelDisneyPlus) quickly became a popular trend on Twitter within hours, with some Twitter users pointing out Disney’s low moral ground.
A Feb. 10 social media post by Carano, formerly a cast member of Disney+’s Star Wars spinoff series The Mandalorian, suggested that the Democratic government in the United States now treats Republicans the same way the Nazi government in Germany treated Jews. The Mandalorian cast member posted a social media post on Feb. 10 suggesting that the Democratic government in the U.S. now treats Republicans the way the Nazi government in Germany treated Jews.
After the controversy, Carano deleted the post the same day.
However, just hours after Lucasfilm announced the firing of actress Carano, the hashtag “CancelDisneyPlus” became popular and quickly rose to the top trend on Twitter.
One Twitter user said, “You guys get ready to #CancelDisneyPlus.”
Conservative commentator Paul K. Joseph Watson Paul Joseph Watson tweeted, “Gina Carano is totally right. Carano is absolutely right. #CancelDisney+.”
Another Twitter user noted that if a company were to fire someone just because that person compared Nazis to people today, then some companies would have a lot of people to fire.
Documentary filmmaker Lauren Southern, who is also a member of the Disney+ team, said the company would have a lot of people fired for comparing Nazis to people today. Let’s start firing people who make stupid comparisons to Nazi Germany,” tweeted Lauren Southern.
“Now it’s the turn of the progressive media (meaning the leftist media). Chop chop chop! You guys have enough of a backlog to work through!
“#CancelDisney+.”
Another Twitter user showed that he had unsubscribed from Disney+ and said he wasn’t sad to leave it at all.
Other users were quick to point out that the political left’s banning or “canceling” of political dissidents is nothing new.
Writer and journalist Mike Cernovich, a member of the Disney+ community, said he was not sad to leave Disney+. Mike Cernovich tweeted, “Blacklisting Gina Carano proves that the political left is not new. Blacklisting Gina Carano proves that the left’s view is that anyone who disagrees is someone who must be destroyed. They hate you. Don’t deny or pretend. Stop trying to be friends with them or debate with them. They want to put you in the gulag. You have to watch out in this damn game!”
Some Twitter users even revealed that Disney filmed “Mulan” in China and even thanked public security in Xinjiang, where the Communist Party of China’s concentration camps for the Uighurs are located.
Writer and podcast host Stephen Miller, who is a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said the film was made in China. Stephen Miller tweeted, “It’s too absurd to allow Disney to fire actors for offensive social media posts as long as they cater to China’s human rights violations and literal concentration camps for money $$$$. It’s that simple.”
Other Twitter users continued to expose Disney’s ethical underbelly – a director who spent years tweeting “jokes” about fantasies of child rape and child molestation, James Gunn, who has been a member of the Disney Family for years. James Gunn (James Gunn), was fired by Disney and then rehired.
The journalist Ian M. Ian Miles Cheong Ian Miles Cheong, a journalist, tweeted: “Disney has cancelled Gina Carano, apparently because of her social media posts. Carano, apparently because of a social media post in which she highlighted the dangers of dehumanizing other people, but they rehired someone who has made countless disturbing comments about rape and pedophilia.
“You just know where Disney’s morals lie.”
