House Speaker Nancy Pelosi returns to office Jan. 13 after launching her impeachment of Trump.
The online magazine American Thinker published an opinion piece by freelance Writer John Green on Thursday (Feb. 11). In the piece, Green asks: Are America’s government departments and politicians now public servants or parasites? They claim to be “public servants” serving the public interest, but they are self-consciously noble, using their power to gain money and fight dissent. Greene says that we should not recognize them as “civil servants”.
The following is a translation of the article.
I have a question. When did politicians and federal employees start calling themselves “civil servants”? More importantly, why should we recognize them? It’s as if they are nobly making sacrifices for the public good. But I don’t understand what kind of sacrifice that is. They are better paid and have better benefits than most private sector employees. They are rarely held accountable for their performance. Why should we treat them as if they have a higher standard than any other industry in the country?
Take Joe Biden, for example. He claims to have worked in public service for more than 50 years. But what has he done in that Time? He was the first senator to launch a personal attack on a Supreme Court justice nominee. His attacks on Robert Bork (D-MA) were shameful and helped lead to the current environment that politicizes the Supreme Court. He has also used his power to benefit his Family. How on earth did Biden, who eats lunch bennies and is just a paid politician, become a millionaire? I don’t see how he serves his country.
Biden is certainly not alone. Was Nancy Pelosi serving the public interest when she delayed COVID-19 (Wuhan pneumonia) relief for months just to deny President Trump (Trump) a victory? She bought stock in tesla days before the president signed an executive order requiring all agencies to switch to electric vehicles. Was she also serving her constituents? There is a term called “insider trading. As a civic-minded public servant, she is doing “insider trading”. I hope she will share her windfall with her constituents.
It’s not all about the money. Some politicians have a completely different Perception of service. Eric Swalwell has turned himself into a slave to a Chinese Communist spy. What “services” did Swalwell provide? Is there anything that he can claim to be noble? I mean in America, not in China.
Let’s not forget the bureaucrats who “serve” our country. Look at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They are good at two things: killing business and polluting rivers.
The IRS has locked up the Tea Party in the name of serving the public interest and silencing them during the presidential campaign. They also leaked confidential tax records to the media and provided them to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) without being authorized to do so. Isn’t it noble of them to poke us in the eye while taking our money? Maybe the next time you check out at the grocery store, the clerk should send your shopping list to Child Protective Services instead of thanking you. Is that what “public servants” do?
Let’s not forget the FBI, which is a unique entity in its own right. Our sworn law enforcement officers have launched attempted coups against duly elected presidents. They’ve set up perjury traps for his national security advisors. They have even falsified evidence to the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA).
I have heard that FBI officers and employees are honest and professional, and we should not blame the entire FBI for “a few bad apples”. what perfect nonsense! If most of them were honest, where were the whistleblowers during the investigation of President Trump? How could they have prevented the Boston Marathon bombing as far as the profession is concerned? Previously they had received whistleblowers that Tsarnaevs (Tsarnaevs) were going to have action. I have the same question about the Perth Nightclub massacre. Was it just a few “bad apples” trying to pin the Atlanta Olympics bombing on Richard Jewell? The FBI was even warned of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but failed to act.
Of course, our highly specialized FBI agents were able to identify the lasso used to open the garage door, and it only took 15 agents and five days to determine this. That’s what some slick cops do! The FBI seems to be using their badge to target political enemies, or just a modern version of the Keystone Cops in suits. But I don’t see them making sacrifices for the public good.
These are just a few examples, and other agencies are not much better. Employees of all federal agencies have formed a “resistance” against Trump. They have spent the last four years leaking and providing unconfirmed, anonymous sources to undermine everything Trump wants to accomplish. They did this because they thought we needed something other than our vote. If the waiter served you something other than what you ordered, but what he wanted to give you, how would you rate that waiter?
Who are the people who are really working for the good of the country? Is it the politicians and bureaucrats who only want to wield power and stifle business? Or the nameless workers who get up early every day to keep this country running? The real aristocrats are the farmers who put Food on our tables, the truck drivers who make sure supplies arrive on time, and the linemen who keep the lights on. As for the self-proclaimed federal “civil servants,” on the bright side, they are, at best, employees with lifetime job security who get paid too much money. To put it mildly, they are parasites on society, eager to become our rulers.
The next time I hear a politician or bureaucrat say they are “serving me,” I have one thing to say: I want my tips back.
