BNO visa eligibility British MPs urge to extend to Hong Kong people born after 97

The British government opened the British National (Overseas) Passport (BNO) visa application to Hong Kong people at the end of last month, a British MP said during a webinar on Thursday (11) that the “Hong Kong National Security Law” undermines “one country, two systems” and called on the British government to extend the BNO visa application to Hong Kong people born after 1997.

Stephen Kinnock, a Labour MP, said that the BNO Act has seriously undermined the rule of law and “one country, two systems” in Hong Kong, as well as the freedom rights of Hong Kong people. The same event was attended by the British NGO “Hong Kong Monitor” founder Rodgers, said that if Hong Kong people have a record for participating in social movements, it will not affect their applications for BNO visas.
