Third day of Trump impeachment lawmakers: Democrats are making up stories

On Thursday, Trump‘s impeachment trial entered its third day. While Democrats tried to attack Trump on all fronts, they did not sway Republican lawmakers who believe the impeachment is unconstitutional.

At noon Thursday, the U.S. Senate continued to hear arguments from both sides of the aisle on whether Trump’s actions constitute sedition.

The Democratic impeachment manager continued to argue that those who stormed Congress on Jan. 6 were incited and directed by Trump.

In the evening, the impeachment manager concluded his arguments. Starting at 12 p.m. Friday, Trump’s defense team was given 16 minutes to present its defense case.

Over the past few days, Democratic evidence has not swayed Republican lawmakers who believe impeachment is unconstitutional.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (2021.02.10): “Most Republican lawmakers found the House impeachment manager’s statement offensive and odd,” he said.

The Democrats are making up stories and trying to convince people that Trump had been monitoring the websites of certain far-right groups and therefore had prior knowledge of the riots,” said Rep. Graham.

Before Wednesday’s debate ended, Republican Rep. He said that the Democratic impeachment manager, who is in charge of the prosecution, has asked that false reports about his and Trump’s conversations be removed from his record.

The debate over the impeachment is expected to continue through Sunday. It is uncertain whether either side will ask to call witnesses. But the Senate is expected to vote quickly, as early as next Monday (Feb. 15), and it is highly unlikely that Trump will be found guilty.
