Yale University (Yale University) 26-year-old Chinese-American master’s degree student Kevin Jiang (Kevin Jiang) 6 night in New Haven, Connecticut (New Haven) after being shot and killed, the New York City police said to this reporter on the 9th, from Shanghai, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Chinese doctoral student Pan Qinxuan (Qinxuan Pan, pronounced) suspected of being involved in serious suspicion The police of both places are currently searching for him.
It is understood that the deceased Kevin Jiang in a week before the successful proposal of his girlfriend also studied at MIT, and Pan Qinxuan each other as Facebook friends.
At around 8:30 p.m. on the 6th, a shooting occurred near Lawrence Street in East Rock, New Haven, where the police found Kevin Chiang shot several times and dead in the middle of the road.
Residents near the incident site told police that a total of seven shots were heard, two shots at first, and then five shots after a pause.
Not fully identified murderer urged Pan to the case to clarify
The New York City Police Department revealed on the 9th that the New Haven Police Department was notified on the 8th that the suspect in the case was a 29-year-old MIT Chinese doctoral student named Pan Qinxuan; Pan Qinxuan drove a vehicle with Massachusetts license plates and entered New York City at 4:00 a.m. on the 7th via Staten Island, and has not left the record since then.
The police said they have not yet fully identified Pan Qinxuan as the murderer in this case, but “hope to further understand this case to him”, the motive for the crime also needs further investigation.
According to Pan’s Facebook page, he came to the U.S. from Shanghai in June 2006 to study, and after graduating from Wooton High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, where there are many Chinese students, he entered MIT for his undergraduate studies in 2009.
The deceased Kevin Chiang had just successfully proposed to his 22-year-old white girlfriend, Zion Perry, who was a first-year biophysics doctoral student at Yale University, on Jan. 30; she described how she met Kevin Chiang, saying they first met at a church retreat in Norwalk in late January 2020 when she was a senior at MIT. She accepted Kevin Jiang’s proposal on Jan. 30 this year at a state park in Middletown.
Parry said that last August moved to New Haven to live, Kevin Jiang went to Texas at the Time to receive national service training for about two months, and when he finished training back in Connecticut, Parry went to the airport with Jiang’s mother to pick him up; on January 30 this year, Kevin Jiang proposed to her successfully.
The last hug became a goodbye girlfriend does not want to talk more
The two went fishing together at Silver Lake on the 6th, and when they returned to New Haven in the evening, they had dinner with Paley’s roommates, and then Kevin Chiang drove her to the supermarket.
“He had a car and I didn’t. I hugged him goodbye,” Paley said, adding that when she returned to her apartment after shopping, Jiang helped Paley carry her Food in and “I hugged him goodbye,” not realizing it would be forever.
The police have refused to comment on the fatal shooting, or to mention what happened that night, or where she was at the time of the incident, “I just want to focus on the happy memories I had with him.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said that Valentine’s Day was Kevin Chiang’s 27th birthday and that the community was deeply saddened by his death; Yale University President Peter Salovey also issued a statement on the case, saying that it was sad that Kevin Chiang was shot and killed, and that the New Haven Police Department had classified the case as a homicide, “The university has been in close contact with Kevin Chiang’s Family. I would like to send my condolences to his family and all those who loved him.
Kevin Chiang, who entered Yale University in 2019 to pursue a master’s degree with a concentration in environmental science, was a former U.S. Army tank armorer and had been a member of the National Guard until he was killed.
