After nearly 100 days, New York State Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (D-NY), who was confirmed last week, told investigative reporters in an interview on Monday 8 that she ran a marathon to win the election, pointing out the need for election reform, such as the implementation of Voter I.D. checks, to restore fairness to the election. After 97 days of review by New York State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte, the State Board of Elections finally certified Republican Claudia Tenney as the winner of New York State’s 22nd Congressional District, defeating incumbent Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.
In an 8-day podcast interview with investigative reporter Sara Carter, freshman Rep. Claudia Turney said there were many irregularities throughout the vote counting process, but no evidence of fraud.
Claudia Turney mentioned that all ballots are subject to judicial oversight whenever there is a challenge. It went on to explain why the process took 97 days.
“All ballots that were rejected (read) by (Dominion voting machines) were put on hold and were counted and actually audited by each county board of elections, and all ballots were counted.” Claudia Turney said, “Not only did we do the machine count, but we also had to cross-check the results of the machine count and do the manual count.”
Claudia Turney called on New York Governor Cuomo to resign over the chaos in the district’s election process and to implement comprehensive election reform.
Claudia Turney said that Republicans can no longer remain silent and inactive in a predominantly Democratic state where so many jobs depend on the governor, “I hope people in New York will wake up and realize that. Unfortunately, the people who are waking up have moved out of New York State, but we have to keep fighting …… we can’t let people give up.”
“I will stay in New York and fight, we need to do that …… I really think that if we can change the governor and win back the state senate and the house …… we can help our small businesses. We used to be the Empire State with a larger immigrant population than any state in the country. Now they’re moving to Florida, Tennessee and Texas, and they’re leaving because they don’t want to be subjected to this one-party dominated political system that the governor has created.”
