At a Time when the Chinese Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia) is raging across the country, the Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital recently issued an article saying “Congratulations to the thoracic surgery department for exceeding 1,000 surgeries in 2020”, which sparked controversy. The hospital’s many shady practices have also come under public scrutiny.
On February 8, Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital published a post on today’s headline platform using its official certification account. The article showed that as the New Year approached, Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital celebrated the hospital’s 2020 annual surgical volume of thoracic surgery reaching 1,150 units. A number of pictures in the article show hospital staff members participating in the celebration, each wearing a red scarf, with a banner with congratulatory messages hanging behind them and a large cake in front of them.

The above incident is another official medical institution’s “celebration” scandal after the Third People’s Hospital in Chengdu’s Wuhou District hung a banner to “warmly celebrate” becoming the designated hospital for nucleic acid testing.
21 hours after Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital posted the article, the number of comments reached nearly 2,700. The incident reminded many netizens of the issue of doctor-patient relations, with most of them expressing their dissatisfaction with the posting.
“If the average cost of each operation is $100,000, the annual revenue of a department can reach $100 million. The question is how many cases here that would not have required surgery? There is an old saying: I wish there was no disease in the world, I would rather have the dust of Medicine on the shelf.”
“I wonder how many people are operated on? Now the majority of doctors lacking deity, many hospitals have profit targets, and those who did not need surgery are operated on.”
“People’s patients are suffering from Life-threatening and painful surgeries, but the hospital is celebrating this kind of performance, is the director of this hospital brain-damaged? A bunch of beastly guys, simply write welcome directly on the front door, is not to send the crematorium full of 1,000 people also want to celebrate it?”
