Apple and Google dare to delete? Facebook is the most used social media for congressional riots

The Daily Caller reports that an analysis of Justice Department charging documents shows that Facebook was the social media network most used to organize the Jan. 6 congressional riots.

The Extremism Project at George Washington University collected indictments from 223 people who were indicted for their involvement in the Jan. 6 congressional riots . Of those charged with crimes, 73 used Facebook, more than all other social media sites combined, according to a Forbes analysis.

Social media site Parler was banned from using Amazon’s Internet infrastructure after the riots because of its alleged connection to the violence, but only eight people were charged with using Parler, according to Forbes. Both Apple and Google removed Parler from their App stores.

Paller did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg had previously blamed Paller and another small platform, Gab, for the riots.

“I think these incidents are largely organized on platforms that don’t have our ability to stop hate, don’t have our standards, don’t have our transparency,” she said on Jan. 11, according to The Washington Post. Facebook did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment.
