Just proposed to… Chinese master’s student at Yale University was shot several times and killed

Kevin Jiang, a Chinese-American master’s student at Yale University, was shot and killed in the evening of June 6. Local police have classified the case as a homicide investigation, and no one has been arrested.

According to foreign media reports, Kevin Jiang’s 27th birthday is next week on Western Valentine’s Day (14th), and he had just proposed to his girlfriend more than a week ago (Jan. 30) when he was shot in the street in New Haven, Connecticut at around 8:30 p.m. local Time. When first responders arrived, they found Kevin Chiang dead next to his car, which had impact marks on the rear.

After the incident, residents of the neighborhood said “at first, we thought it was just someone setting off fireworks”, “first two shots, then a pause, and then five shots in a row, we were afraid to look out the window”. Some said a black car was seen driving away from the scene at high speed, and police are investigating whether a car accident may have occurred before Kevin Chiang was murdered, and tracking the vehicle the killer may have been driving in.

The shooting is the sixth homicide in the city so far this year.
