The epidemic is severe: the U.S. single-day death of more than 5,000 and a record-breaking two weeks accumulated 40,000

Recently, the number of confirmed cases and deaths from Chinese Communist pneumonia (COVID-19) in the United States has been climbing significantly. On Thursday (February 4), more than 120,000 new cases were diagnosed and more than 5,000 deaths were reported in a single day; more than 40,000 deaths have occurred in the last two weeks; and the cumulative number of deaths nationwide has exceeded 460,000. The Epidemic in the United States is clearly accelerating compared to last year.

Since the beginning of this year, despite massive vaccination efforts, the number of deaths in the U.S. due to infection with the CCP virus has remained at a peak of over 3,000 per day. As of press Time, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of CCP pneumonia in the United States has reached 27,282,905, with 468,801 cumulative deaths due to the disease.

According to Johns Hopkins University, on Thursday alone, 122,473 new cases were diagnosed and 5,077 new deaths were reported in the United States. In the past two weeks, the number of deaths due to the epidemic in the United States exceeded 40,000.

Jennifer Nuzzo, an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public health, recently told the media that if the number of new confirmed cases does not continue to decline, then the number of deaths will remain high for several weeks.

In the face of the growing epidemic in the United States, the Biden administration pinned its best hope on the speed and breadth of vaccination.

According to data published on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website, as of Feb. 1, about 26 million people nationwide had received at least one dose of the CDC virus vaccine, with about 5.9 million having received two doses.

In addition, the Biden Administration has pinned its hopes for defense against the CCP virus on measures to force people to wear masks.

Following the CDC’s order in late January that passengers and workers on the nation’s public transportation systems must wear masks, the Transportation Security Administration has issued a bulletin in early February requiring the U.S. public to wear masks at transportation hub venues such as train stations and airports, as well as when riding trains, buses and planes. On Friday, the agency again stressed that those who violate federal transportation mask regulations will face a $250 fine, with increased fines for multiple violations, and fines for repeat violations could be as high as $1,500.

However, U.S. epidemiologists recently warned that the U.S. is facing a mutated strain of the CCP virus that could lead to a new surge in the number of new confirmed cases of CCP pneumonia.

According to the CDC, as of Feb. 2, a total of 546 cases with mutated strains of the CCP virus have been identified in at least 33 U.S. states. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, noted that the spread of multiple mutations of the CCP virus in the United States “could lead to another surge in confirmed cases in the next six to 14 weeks.

A new outbreak model released by the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Statistics and Evaluation also predicts that the U.S. could experience a “surge” in the outbreak of CCP pneumonia this spring.

Not only is the outbreak in the United States very serious, but many countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, have recently entered a new high season of pneumonia outbreaks.
