Since the beginning of winter last year, Zhejiang Province has been in a continuous drought. Among them, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Taizhou have experienced a drought of one in 50 years. Recently, Ningbo city issued a notice to impose temporary restrictions on water supply for half a month.

According to the Surf News, Ningbo Flood Control and Drought Relief Command issued a notice on February 4, from 23:00 on February 5 to 24:00 on February 20, Ningbo city will implement temporary restriction of water supply.

According to the notice, the local rainfall since last October is seriously low, the water supply situation is serious. In order to alleviate the water supply situation in the city, the west line raw water pipeline and Maojiaping water plant link, Maojiaping water plant need to suspend water supply, urban areas (including six districts) to implement temporary restrictions on water supply.

The report said that before Ningbo urban area restricted water supply, Wailing City and Sanmen County in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, Yueqing City in Wenzhou, and Cixi City in Ningbo have long been implemented to restrict water supply. Only Ningbo is the first city at the prefecture level and above to restrict water supply in the current round of drought.

Since the beginning of winter last year, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Taizhou and Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province have experienced a 50-year drought. Compared with the same period of the normal year, the current water storage in large and medium-sized reservoirs in the province is 1.067 billion square meters less. The current daily water supply in Zhejiang ranges from about 18 million to 20 million cubic meters, which is equal to a 53-day reduction in water supply capacity.

According to a report by Xiaoshan Radio and Television Station at the end of January, since late September 2020, rainfall in Zhejiang Province has been 60% less than the same period of the year, the most prominent being Wenzhou City with only 50 mm of precipitation, followed by Taizhou City and Zhoushan City, and again Ningbo City and Lishui City.

At present, Ningbo City requires sanitation, landscaping and landscape facilities to ban the use of tap water, using recycled water or river network water instead. Previously, Yueqing City, Wenzhou has been restricted from hotel services, electroplating, road sprinkling, water supply to enterprises and institutions since January 4, and stop water supply to high water-consuming industries such as swimming pools, baths and car washes.
