Trump Appointee Threatened With Removal Sues Biden and White House Officials

An Executive Council of the United States (ACUS) official appointed by former President Trump is suing the Biden Administration, alleging that the White House illegally threatened to terminate his position on the council.

Roger Severino filed the lawsuit against Biden and White House personnel officials in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Feb. 3 and is seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction from a judge to prevent his “unlawful removal” by the new administration.

Severino’s new term is still three years away, according to the rules. But Severino said in the lawsuit that he received an email this week from Gautam Raghavan, deputy director of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, asking him to resign. In the letter, Raghavan warned him that if he did not resign, he would be fired.

Severino’s lawyers said President Biden does not have the authority to terminate Severino’s appointment under 5 U.S.C. § 595(b) or Article II of the Constitution.

At Biden Administration’s Request, Supreme Court Cancels Arguments in Immigration Case

The U.S. Supreme Court on the morning of February 3 granted the Biden administration’s request to cancel oral arguments in two cases. The upcoming arguments in the cases involve two lawsuits filed against former President Trump’s signature immigration policies.

The cases are currently on hold pending arguments on settlement. The two lawsuits involve Trump’s measure to build a wall along the U.S. southern border to stop foreigners from illegally sneaking across the border, as well as his policy requiring asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while they await a ruling. Trump’s presidency ended on Jan. 20.

Since taking office, Joe Biden has changed the priorities of the government department, abandoning the immigration enforcement efforts that were the focus of the previous administration.

Apollo.com chief commentator Wang Druo commented that the U.S. is supposed to have a separation of powers (legislative, executive, judicial), and it is no longer a separation. Now it is Biden’s interference in the judiciary, the Supreme Court is not independent, and the separation of powers does not exist anymore. The separation of powers, the Supreme Court is to check the other two powers (legislative, executive), but the Supreme Court does not dare to take Trump’s case. So the American system is no longer working under the corruption of human nature. But there are still some people who want to check and balance the left in this system, and this is the direction that many people are trying to go, so the situation now is that the left and the right are in a fierce struggle.

The U.S. “solid as a rock” commitment to “one China”? The downgrading of Taiwan‘s “president” title raises concerns

In his two weeks in office, President Biden has been reiterating his “rock-solid” commitment to Taiwan, urging Beijing to stop its military, diplomatic and economic pressure on Taiwan and to engage in meaningful dialogue with Taiwan.

It is noteworthy that, unlike the former Trump Administration officials who would directly refer to Taiwan’s president and officials by their “president” or official titles, the Biden administration has used the traditional U.S. terms of “elected representatives” and “elected leadership” to refer to Taiwan’s president and officials. This also shows that the Biden administration’s policy toward Taiwan has returned to the long-standing line followed by the United States.

In response, Taiwan’s KMT caucus leader Lin Weizhou said in an interview on January 29, “This subtle change in the U.S. means that the Biden administration is not so supportive of Taiwan anymore! .

The convener of the sovereignty group of the think tank of the Economic and People’s Bank of China, Song Chengen, pointed out that the content of Biden’s statement neither appeared “Taiwan officials” nor “the government of the Republic of China”, but returned to the past with “Taiwan’s elected representatives Instead, he returned to the old designation of “elected representatives of Taiwan. He said that these signs show that the United States is back to maintaining an “unofficial” position towards Taiwan, using the PRC (People’s Republic of China) to refer to the other side of the Taiwan Strait, pulling out the space of “one country, two governments”; Biden is clearly back to the “one-China framework”. The U.S.-China-Taiwan relationship has returned to a more ambiguous state, which is a far cry from the Trump administration’s Pompeo foreign policy.

Taiwan’s Ki Progressive Party Chairman Chen Yiqi questioned the Biden administration’s overly moderate attitude toward the Chinese Communist Party, hoping that the U.S. Democratic Party would “not only talk” but also take concrete action, so that the Chinese Communist Party’s intrusion into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone and the center line of the Strait would not become the new norm and eventually become an established fact.

You have the final say if your fist is big? Tsai Ing-wen names Xi Jinping

Guyana terminated its agreement to establish a “Taiwan office” on Feb. 5 due to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party. Tsai expressed her deep regret and named Xi Jinping on Facebook, sarcastically referring to his comment that “you can’t say whoever has the biggest arm or fist”.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had just announced the establishment of a Taiwan Office in Guyana on February 4, but just one day later, Guyana announced the termination of the agreement to establish the Taiwan Office.

In response, Tsai said on Facebook that under the suppression of the Chinese Communist government, the government of Guyana unilaterally terminated the agreement with Taiwan, which “we deeply regret and express our protest and condemnation of the actions of the Chinese (Communist) government.

Tsai mentioned that Xi Jinping just mentioned at the World Economic Forum that he “opposes bullying the strong over the weak, and cannot be the one who has the thick arm or the big fist who has the say. This should have been a solemn commitment of a great power, but now it has become a great irony.

Tsai said that challenges have always been there, but Taiwanese will not bow to adversity! She also cheered up Taiwan’s diplomats on the front line, saying that Taiwanese will not bow to adversity!

According to the Facebook page of “Southwest Taiwan Airspace”, the Chinese Communist Party entered Taiwan’s airspace almost every day in January.

The Chinese Communist Party is a ‘king of changing faces’, it always has two masks, one is for when it has the advantage, when it accuses others. The other mask is for scoundrels when it is in a disadvantageous position. If we consider the CCP as a person, it is a rogue who plays with the rules without any bottom line and turns his hands into clouds and his hands into rain.”

Chinese Woman Sentenced to $2.6 Million, 2.5 Years in Prison for Stealing Confidential Information

Chen Li, a Chinese-American researcher who stole scientific trade secrets from the National Children’s Hospital Research Institute in Ohio and pleaded guilty to wire fraud, was sentenced by a judge in federal court to 2 1/2 years in prison, while her husband’s accomplice, Yu Zhou, is still awaiting sentencing.

World Journal reports that according to the verdict, in addition to serving 2.5 years in prison, Chen Li’s 500,000 shares of Avalon GloboCare Corp. and 400 shares of GenExosome Technologies Inc. worth about $1.4 million were forfeited; in addition, Chen Li also had to pay $2.6 million in restitution. In addition, Chen Li is required to pay $2.6 million in restitution.

The Chanleys stole trade secrets related to exosomes, which play a key role in the research, identification and treatment of a range of diseases, including necrotizing small bowel colitis (a disease that often occurs in premature infants), liver fibrosis and liver cancer, for which the hospital has invested significant funds over the years.

According to the plea agreement, Chen Li conspired to manufacture and sell a combination package from stolen trade secrets, and she admitted to opening a company in China to sell the package; in addition, Chen Li received funding from government agencies, including from China’s State Administration for Foreign Experts Affairs and China’s National Natural Science Foundation, and she applied for membership in several Communist Party authorities’ talent programs, which are China’s way of transferring foreign research and technology These programs are one of the ways in which China transfers foreign research and technology to the Chinese Communist Party authorities.

Former Chinese Professor Charged with 10 Counts for Concealing Membership in CCP’s Thousand Talents Program

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the indictment of Lin Yang, 43, a former University of Florida professor and researcher of Chinese descent, on six counts of wire fraud and four counts of making false statements to a U.S. agent. According to the indictment, Yang served as a principal investigator on a National Institutes of health (NIH) grant project from September 2014 to July 2019 and received a $1.75 million grant from the NIH to develop and popularize a muscle imaging information tool called MuscleMiner.

During the same period, Yang Lin founded a company called Deep Informatics in China in 2016 to market his product, which was the result of years of research in the U.S. and received millions of dollars in U.S. government funding, Beauty Daily reported. Lin also applied for the “Thousand Talents Program” at Northwestern Polytechnic University in Xi’an, China, and was accepted.

In order to maintain his job at the University of Florida and continue to receive NIH funding, Yang deliberately concealed conflicts of interest arising from his China business, his participation in the Chinese government’s talent program, and his ties to a Chinese Communist research university.

The DOJ press release stated that each count of wire fraud carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted, and each count of making false statements to a U.S. agent carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo

Biden says “America is back” and Pompeo’s words penetrate

The U.S. Department of State has announced that it will be launching a new program to promote the development of the U.S. government. In response, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo quipped, “Back? Are you going back to the past when you were easily defeated by the Chinese Communist Party? He said the American people can no longer tolerate Obama’s appeasing foreign policy toward the Chinese Communist Party, and urged the new Biden administration to stick to Trump’s “America First” policy.

In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Pompeo questioned: “The strategy of the past decades has been a policy of appeasement, compromise, chasing cheap labor on the mainland to the great detriment of ordinary people throughout the United States, resulting in the loss of tens of millions of American jobs. When Biden says ‘America comes back,’ does that mean allowing the Chinese Communist Party to once again continue its easy victory over us, destroying millions of jobs in states like Kansas and South Carolina, as we say familiarly?”

Pompeo also said the Trump administration’s policies are supported by allies like Israel. He said, “When Biden talks about our allies and America coming back, does that mean going back to a past of despising allies like Israel and giving enemies like Iran $150 billion in cash money to archly treat them as friends?”

Pompeo went on to say he was proud of the Trump administration’s diplomatic performance and urged the new Biden administration to introduce an “America First” foreign policy similar to that of the Trump administration because the American people can no longer tolerate the Obama-era foreign policy.

He urged the Biden administration to tell the Chinese Communist Party, “You can’t dump your products here and you can’t steal our intellectual property.”
