Yuan Bowie: The Chinese Communist Party should be characterized as a “transnational criminal group”

Since last year, Hong Kong industrialist Yuen Bow-yee, 72, has been engaged in lobbying U.S. politicians and promoting U.S. sanctions against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and advocating that the CCP be characterized as a “transnational criminal group. Recently, our reporter interviewed him to hear his account of his political activities and his next plan of action. In the interview, he also told the reporter why he advocates to classify the CCP as a “transnational criminal group. The following is an interview with Yuan Bowie conducted by journalist Sun Cheng.

Yuan’s reasons and history for opposing the CCP

Reporter: Hello, can you tell us the reasons why you came out against the Chinese Communist Party?

Yuan Gao-Yi: I was not involved in politics, I was a businessman, an investor. But about June last year, the Chinese Communist Party started to propose a Hong Kong version of the “National Security Law”. The Sino-British Joint Declaration signed in the 1980s already stated that Hong Kong is a capitalist society with its own system, a high degree of autonomy, its own laws, its own freedom, its own elections. However, the Chinese Communist Party has been undermining the Sino-British Joint Declaration for the past 20 years or so, and finally promulgated the “National Security Law” on July 1 last year. The content of the “National Security Law” is basically the same as that in China, everything is decided by the leadership. So I thought, “No, I must protect my Home. I had come from Shanghai, which had been completely occupied, and the Communists had not done anything they had promised. Since ’49, in less than ten years, Shanghai has been transformed into a mess. Shanghai was the most prosperous city in the whole of Asia, and then it became a mess. We have already escaped once, and now we have to escape again in Hong Kong. Now the whole world has to deal with the Chinese Communist Party, the Chinese Communist Party’s approach is not only Hong Kong, the future “One Belt, One Road” is in accordance with this method to do, the country has followed this method to do, you see Xinjiang, Tibet, (Inner) Mongolia, and many autonomous regions in the south, is completely destroyed, promised nothing is counted. So I now want to unite with the world against China.

How to unite with the world against the Chinese Communist Party

Reporter: So, how do you think this connection with the whole world should be done?

Yuan Bowei: The Wuhan Epidemic was a “good thing”. The whole world saw clearly that the Chinese Communist Party was irresponsible and released the virus, which could have closed the whole country and notified the WHO earlier to warn the whole world. Later, after three months of delay, they warned people and did not give WHO a speech, and now they do not give WHO a check, (proving) that the Chinese Communist Party is an irresponsible group, not a country, not qualified to be called a country. I think I have to come out to unite the world to isolate the CCP until it gives up communism. If the CCP is not destroyed, there is no hope for Hong Kong, no hope for Taiwan, no hope for the mainland, and no hope for the whole world. Just look at this epidemic, which is still going on today. So I think I should stand up for myself, no matter what people say. But if I can’t even do it myself, it’s impossible to ask people to help. That’s why I’ve been broadcasting on YouTube for the past seven months, telling the world and calling on Hong Kong people to work with me to tell the world that the Chinese Communist Party is the biggest tumor, and it will kill us if we don’t get rid of it, and it will kill us if it keeps spreading. That’s what I’m doing in the U.S., and I can’t go back to Hong Kong, they’ll definitely catch me and seal me up, I can’t do anything. So I stay in the United States now, mainly in Washington. And I can go to many other countries that are sympathetic to Hong Kong and understand the Chinese Communist Party and call on them to unite and deal with the Chinese Communist Party together. That’s what I’m doing now.

The Chinese Communist Party should be characterized as a “transnational criminal group”

Reporter: Can you tell us specifically what kind of work you are doing now?

Yuan Bowie: Of course it’s a very difficult thing, I’m just one person, there’s only so much I can do. But I have a lot of support from many members of Congress, the State Department, and the White House in Washington, D.C., to characterize the Chinese Communist Party as a “transnational crime syndicate,” and that’s what I’m doing in the United States. The law is already in place (note: H.R. 8491, the “Designation of the Chinese Communist Party as a Transnational Organized Crime Group Act,” introduced to Congress by three members of Congress on October 1, 2020), and it will take the president and the attorney general to qualify it. I will travel around the world and talk to different countries, especially the Five Eyes Coalition, because they think and have the same values as the United States, so I want to talk to them and ask them to demand compensation from the Chinese Communist Party for the damage caused by this virus, because the world lost more than ten trillion dollars. Secondly, I would also ask them to designate the Chinese Communist Party as a transnational criminal group. I may go around the world to lobby them about this. Of course, this may not happen immediately, but at least give them an idea: “What you are dealing with now is not an ordinary country, but a group of triads, and the whole Chinese Communist Party is a triad”.

Reporter: Can you expand on the specific definition of “transnational criminal group”?

Yuan Bowie: In the 71 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it has been committing crimes, all of which are international Crimes Against Humanity. At the beginning, it killed the landlords. What did the landlords do wrong? Didn’t the world want to protect the property of individuals? What right does it have to kill landlords? This is not to protect property, killing people is murder, killing them and then taking away all their money and robbing them of their wives. What are the three anti-fifth rebellions? The capitalists were robbed of all their money and told to go to labor camps and jail, and then the public-private partnership. The so-called “joint venture”, have you seen a joint venture company now? All Chinese state-owned companies, private capital are gone, all controlled by them, is the robbery of money, this is a violation of the law. Later on, there was the anti-rightist movement, which was also against the law. After that, you know best, the Great Leap Forward was also against the law, and the Cultural Revolution was also against the law, and tens of millions of people died in China. This is a crime, not a minor crime, but a crime against humanity. So it is wrong not to designate it as a criminal group.

Transnational criminal syndicates, the United States already has this law. You look at the drug cartels in South America, they’re transnational criminal groups too, they move drugs around. Hezbollah is a transnational crime syndicate, and there are a lot of them. Now there are almost a dozen of them that have been convicted of such crimes. Now, I think the Chinese Communist Party is the one that fits the definition of “transnational crime syndicate”. The laws it commits are committed all over the world, and you can see them. We should count it as a whole, and we should not talk about each crime and then forget about it, which is not right. We should set a general term for it to be right. How many crimes has it committed in the United States? The infiltration, the big foreign propaganda to come here, and the Confucius Institute, all this is the Communist Party infiltrating and subverting people’s power. That’s what it’s doing, too much, and think of how many bad things it’s done in other countries.
