Pompeo: Chinese Communist Party Attacks U.S. by Collecting Americans’ Personal Information

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will use artificial intelligence to comb through personal data on U.S. citizens collected from Chinese technology and applications and use it as a powerful weapon to attack or blackmail the United States, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview Thursday, Feb. 4.

They [the CCP] are going to use that information,” Pompeo told Fox News supporter Maria Bartiromo on Thursday. They’re going to use artificial intelligence to collect it. And then they’ll turn around and tell us that if we don’t do what the Chinese Communist Party wants, there’s going to be real damage to the United States.”

Pompeo also responded to a question from the moderator about whether the Biden administration should continue to enforce the sanctions and other restrictions imposed by former President Trump (R) on Chinese companies.

Pompeo said, “The other side of the brass tacks is that these technologies that are infiltrating the United States and infiltrating Europe are information that our children are using, that we’re using, that’s in our cars, that’s in our televisions, that’s in our cell phones and our telephones. There’s also information about Americans, whether it’s our personal information, our living environment, who we hang out with, or information about our medical conditions and our DNA, that information is collected by the Communist Party’s Department of National Security.”

And that information could also be used as a tool for blackmail or threats against certain people, he said. “It will be used for bad intentions. It will be used to harm the United States of America, and those sanctions were imposed by our government to protect the American people from these two evil tactics.”

The Trump Administration has imposed restrictions and sanctions on several Chinese telecommunications giants, including huawei and ZTE, and various Chinese technology companies.

Pompeo said he warned U.S. allies about the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party. He said the regime has been breaking promises for the past two decades and that we should approach it with the motto “distrust but verify.

He added, “I have spent a lot of Time traveling around the world and visiting leaders, I have been to Europe, Asia and South America. One by one, I remind them that although the Chinese Communist Party may show up with a little bit of money, the purpose behind it is to create leverage and power. And they shouldn’t show up as anti-Western and anti-democratic, or anything of that sort.”

Pompeo has been issuing warnings that the Chinese Communist Party has infiltrated the United States and is working to influence those figures from the local level to Washington who have the power to influence U.S. policy.

He tweeted Feb. 3, “Not only has the CCP destroyed millions of American jobs, but they’re already inside the country. They are the same people in Congress who lobby for them, who are running our school boards and city councils, who are trying to change our way of Life. We, and our allies, must take the Communist threat seriously.”

Pompeo and some former Trump administration officials are currently under “sanctions” from Beijing for being tough on the Chinese Communist Party.
