U.S. climate envoy exposed for taking private jet to receive award, criticized as “hypocritical”

Former U.S. Secretary of State and current presidential climate envoy John Kerry (John Kerry) was recently reported by Forsyth News to have taken a private jet to Iceland in 2019 to receive a climate award, in response, a number of Republican lawmakers besieged Kerry on March 3, criticizing him for hypocrisy, pointing out that Kerry’s words and actions are inconsistent, including some Republicans derided Kerry because of “false benevolence The Republican Party also criticized Kerry for being “hypocritical” and for receiving the award on a private jet while cutting jobs in related petrochemical industries.

According to “Forsyth News,” Republican Senator Bill Cassidy tweeted his anger, “Why is Kerry pretending these rules don’t apply to him? I’m not sure that flying around the world in a private jet while trying to cut jobs for gas employees is a successful strategy for climate officials to fight climate change,” he said.

In addition, Republican Senator Tom Cotton (R-TX) criticized Kerry for simply being a fraud, saying, “Kerry told oilmen that their jobs would be destroyed by the Biden administration and that Biden was ready to start installing solar panels, but Kerry wouldn’t even sacrifice himself to fly on a commercial airliner”. Former Republican Congressman Mark Walker (R-FL) also posted an article blasting, “Is this a fake benevolence award? Or did Kerry get the award because of how many people have lost their jobs in the last 2 weeks”.

Kerry responded to Forsyth News at the Time, saying, “If you’re talking about offsetting carbon emissions, people like me who are flying around to solve the climate problem, this is the only option to win this fight,” alleging, “I fought for years in this fight on behalf of the United States to negotiate the Paris agreement. I also negotiated with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, bringing him to the table to reach the Paris climate agreement”.
