Pence announces post-White House “transition” office

Former Vice President Mike Pence announced Wednesday (Feb. 3) the creation of a new post-White House “transition” office in the Washington, D.C., area.

In a statement Wednesday, Pence said the office will manage communications, scheduling requests, public statements and official events for him and his wife, Karen Pence, the former second lady of the United States.

“The vice president and Mrs. Pence look forward to continuing to elevate the causes that have haunted them and to serve the American people when needed,” A press release said.

Pence’s last public appearance was on Jan. 20, the day of the presidential inauguration, when he attended Joe Biden‘s presidential swearing-in ceremony. Former President Donald Trump did not appear, instead returning to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

After returning to his Home state of Indiana on Inauguration Day, Pence wished Biden and his administration all the best.

“This (becoming vice president) is the greatest honor of my Life.” Speaking to a small group of Indiana supporters, Pence said, “It’s great to be back home again. Thank you for coming.”

“It means a lot to me to be able to fly back to my home state …… Thank you for your support, thank you for your prayers. For that, we feel something every day.” He said.

Pence chaired a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6 to confirm Biden as the winner of the general election.

A press release Wednesday noted that Pence and his wife currently live in northern Virginia and plan to move back to Indiana in the summer.

“Details on how scheduling requests and communications will be made to the former vice president and former second lady will be released soon.” The press release said.
