President Joe Biden‘s attitude toward China has been the focus of much attention, and now there are rumors of disagreements among the China caucus. According to a report by Epoch Times, the National Security Council, the main body responsible for Biden’s China Policy, includes former Secretary of State John Kerry and White House China coordinator Kurt Campbell, who believes in working with China, while China coordinator Campbell wants to push back hard against the Communist Party.
Political observers believe that the inconsistency between Biden’s left and right hands on China policy is likely to create inconsistency in U.S. measures toward China.
In this regard, Biden allies also speculate that the Biden team will have many disagreements on human rights or industrial policy, just as disagreements on China policy have now erupted. But what is known is that Biden is following a foreign policy of multilateral diplomacy and is currently looking for many democratic allies overseas.
In response to the disagreement, the heads of the Treasury Department, State Department, Commerce Department and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative are likely to disagree, and if they do, the final decision-maker will be in the hands of National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
