Electric car maker tesla (Tesla) new car design rumors revealed, foreign media reports Tesla planning to use UWB technology, iPhone can be turned into a “digital key”, more precise location of the electric car, the owner does not have to pull out the iPhone can be unlocked wirelessly, the use of more secure than the existing App software.
Foreign technology website The Verge reported that a document submitted to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (Federal Communications Commission) shows that Tesla plans to apply ultra-wide band UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology in the design of new electric vehicles.
The document shows that Tesla is designing six new products for the new electric car, three of which will support UWB functions.
This means that the new Tesla EV with UWB function will be compatible with Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s high-end smartphone, both of which have UWB function in their new cell phones.
In the future, through the iPhone’s UWB function, car owners can immediately find the correct direction and parking location of their cars in a parking lot full of spaces. The iPhone can also be transformed into a “digital key”, so that car owners do not have to take the iPhone out of their pockets or backpacks, and through the UWB function to more precisely locate the distance, they can wirelessly unlock and open the doors of the Tesla electric car, making it more secure to use.
Technology website MacRumors reported that the U1 chip designed by Apple has been built into the iPhone 11 and 5G version of the iphone 12, supporting UWB function. However, Tesla already has an App application software in Apple’s App Store, which allows Tesla owners to control the electric car through the App software in the iPhone.
The UWB function can enhance the spatial awareness between the mobile device and the electric vehicle. The distance between the two devices can be accurately measured through the UWB function, which marketers say is more accurate than Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi.
For example, BMW is developing Digital Key Plus technology, which is based on UWB and allows owners to unlock or start their electric cars by pinpointing the distance without taking out their iPhones.
