When President Biden signed the “Made in America” executive order recently, he said that the federal government would replace the entire federal fleet of cars with American-made electric vehicles. In addition to stating that he has made climate change a primary goal of his administration, he also emphasized that this could create one million new jobs in the U.S. auto industry and supply chain, which could boost the U.S. economy. But some analysts have poured cold water on the idea that this is not possible.
When Biden signed the executive order in question, he claimed that the federal government’s approximately 650,000 vehicles would be replaced with electric vehicles, while encouraging a national shift to electric vehicles.
He said the use of electric vehicles would install 500,000 new electric vehicle charging stations nationwide, while modernization of the highway system would be launched to accommodate the changes ……, which would also mean one million new jobs in the U.S. auto industry.
But many people are skeptical of this claim, and auto industry analysts don’t see how Biden’s plan can bring a million jobs to the industry.
One million new jobs in the auto industry is an ambitious goal that would mean more than doubling the number of workers currently employed in the auto and parts manufacturing industry.
But in reality it is a fuzzy math problem. Many analysts and the United Auto Workers union (United Auto Workers union) instead warned that electric car manufacturing would reduce the number of jobs in auto manufacturing.
Because if more Americans use electric cars, driving gasoline-powered cars naturally reduce, because the electric car parts less than gasoline cars 30% to 40%, plus manufacturing simpler, the assembly of cars will require fewer workers.
Research firm Guidehouse Insights chief analyst Abersamid ((SamAbuelsamid) pointed out that the electric car is very simple, the workload required and workers naturally greatly reduced, only the manufacture of gasoline engine workers, affected by more than 100,000.
He also said that the next ten years of new car sales in the United States, is expected to be similar to the new crown (Chinese Communist virus) before the Epidemic, so it is difficult to create 1 million automotive jobs in the next few years, nothing has changed greatly will not have more jobs.
The president of the Center for Automotive Research, an automotive industry think tank, also pointed out that Biden’s goal was not clearly defined, and did not specify when the 1 million jobs would appear in the automotive industry in which category.
Biden’s campaign has said that many electric car parts are now made in other countries, and part of the Biden plan is to create a supply chain in the United States to create more factory jobs. But is this part of the manufacturing or automotive industry?
President Biden said he would create one million jobs in the U.S. auto industry and supply chain, raising questions. Pictured is a tesla electric car.
