China’s Discipline Inspection Commission “whitewash” the adultery scandal, netizens questioned the Chinese Communist Party to cover up Hu Xijin

The People’s Daily, a mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China, does not allow internal discussion of the Hu Xijin adultery scandal.

After Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Global Times, was reported by his female deputy to have committed adultery with two female employees and fathered two illegitimate sons, the Communist Party’s mouthpiece, the People’s Daily, was not allowed to talk about the matter internally, and the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Unit of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) at the People’s Daily also “cleared” him.

On Dec. 2, 2020, Duan Jingtao, deputy editor-in-chief of the People’s Daily’s Global Times, reported to the CCDI that Hu Xijin, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, had a long-term sexual relationship with Gao Ying, a female employee of the newspaper, and Zhang Nanyi, a former employee of the newspaper, and that each of them had fathered an illegitimate child for Hu Xijin.

The report was published in the press and sparked a public outcry. The Chinese system reporter Mr. Chen disclosed to the foreign media, Hu Xijin a few years ago rumored scandal, now the deputy editor-in-chief reported him, “must be true, or make so big? He (Hu Xijin) is a department-level cadre,” he said.

On January 29, the Discipline Inspection Group of the State Supervision Commission of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in the People’s Daily also “cleared” Hu Xijin at a meeting of mid-level officials of the Global Times. The report declared that, after verification, Duan Jingtao reported Hu Xijin’s problems without factual basis, the reported problems are untrue, and Duan Jingtao’s disciplinary responsibilities will be pursued according to the investigation results. The briefing also mentioned that Duan Jingtao made a “review” at the meeting, Hu Xijin and colleagues implicated in the “apology”.

Once the news of the investigation came out, immediately netizens a wave of doubts, that the authorities want to protect the “grifter” Hu Xijin. They said.

“Is the whistleblower Duan Jingtao is a three-year-old girl? Does the whistleblower not know that reporting to the CCDI is not a child’s play?”

“The Chinese Communist Party‘s intention is to beat him 40 times before he sees the official!”

“I can’t believe that the editor-in-chief Hu cleared, so it’s settled?”

“Hu Grizzly plate has merit, the master does not want to kill.”

“Hu Xijin is strange if there is no extra-marital affairs, unless he is a eunuch.”

“In any case, public opinion has been created.”

Outsiders also questioned that Hu Xijin’s backstage is far harder than Duan Jingtao’s, so Duan Jingtao lost in this infighting at the Global Times newspaper.

Earlier, Wang Linqing, a judge of the Communist Party’s Supreme Court, had reported in name that Zhou Qiang, the president of the Supreme Court, had interfered in the “100 billion dollar mining rights dispute in northern Shaanxi”, but Wang Linqing was eventually found guilty and Zhou Qiang walked away.
