Japan outbreak of mutated virus cluster infection for 41 days in a row confirmed more than 2,000

Japan today (31) the country added 2,673 cases of Wuhan pneumonia (new coronavirus disease, COVID-19) confirmed and 65 people died of the disease, the capital Tokyo added 633 cases. Although Tokyo has kept the number of infected people below 1,000 for the third consecutive day, the number of confirmed cases in Japan has exceeded 2,000 every day since Dec. 22 last year.

Among them, 214 new cases were confirmed in Osaka Prefecture, 76 in Kyoto Prefecture, 104 in Hokkaido, 390 in Kanagawa Prefecture, 243 in Saitama Prefecture, 212 in Chiba Prefecture, 121 in Aichi Prefecture, 111 in Hyogo Prefecture, and 127 in Fukuoka Prefecture.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases in each region: 99,841 in Tokyo, 43,722 in Osaka, 8,447 in Kyoto, 17,445 in Hokkaido, 40,761 in Kanagawa, 25,189 in Saitama, 22,301 in Chiba, 24,047 in Aichi, 16,468 in Hyogo, 16,176 in Fukuoka, and 7,550 in Okinawa.

Japan’s Ministry of health, Labor and Welfare reported yesterday (30) the first cluster infection of the British variant of the virus in the territory, the case occurred in Saitama Prefecture and Tokyo, as of 30 has been confirmed that nine people were infected. The Ministry of Health and Welfare pointed out that there have been 64 confirmed cases of Variant virus in the country, of which 15 people have no history of travel to the UK and related contact history.

The Japanese Cabinet held a meeting yesterday to discuss whether to extend the expiring emergency declaration, sources said the government is now inclined to extend the emergency for three weeks or a month. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has said that “we must observe the situation again.” But the cabinet will make a decision within this week.

The total number of confirmed cases in Japan is 389,975, and the number of deaths has climbed to 5,753. (All exclude the Diamond Princess)
