Tesla is gearing up for the disappearing steering wheel

The “yoke steering wheel” that tesla is introducing in the new Model S has received mixed reviews in initial tests, and the Model S, which has always been known for its sporty look, has a new, supercar-like interior, with a yoke steering wheel as a highlight of the flagship model.

Tesla’s ultimate mission is to enable autonomous driving, and the yoke steering wheel is undoubtedly the most necessary part of the car’s interior, so the company seems to be steering drivers to use the wheel less and less, which could be one of the reasons for the steering wheel’s reduced size. As you can notice, the yoke steering wheel does not obscure or reduce the visibility of the dashboard or windshield, it is a low steering column that provides maximum visibility during driving, and overall it seems that Tesla is actively preparing a driverless car navigation system.

Over the past few months, Tesla has made some significant leaps in exploring fully autonomous driving, and while FSD Beta is one of the company’s most successful self-driving platforms, there is still plenty of room for improvement enhancements, and the company will use whatever measures are necessary to improve the precision of autonomous driving.

As Autopilot technology matures, Tesla Inc. is beginning to use fewer internals than ever before. The steering wheel is currently smaller, but not completely gone, as Tesla has not yet reached Autopilot Level 5, but the levers that control turn signals, headlights, wipers and gear shifts have been removed. Eventually, Tesla will continue to eliminate unimportant widgets from the car to make the transition easier when FSD is fully rolled out and fully autonomous.
