Bao Yi

In the Tang Dynasty, there was a man named Bao Yi, a native of Jiangdong, who was very talented in literature. When he came to the capital in Time for the exam, he missed the exam, and his fellow clan member Bao Ji, a priest of the State Son, felt sorry for him and let him stay in his house.

Pao Yi went to the Buddhist temple every day and inadvertently offended Liu Taizhen, a scholar in the middle school. When Liu Taizhen saw that he was dressed and behaved like a scholar, he asked someone to question him. Bao Yi got angry and said, “What is there to ask about a scholar, Bao Yi, whom I do not know!” Taizhen was so angry that he sent someone specifically to check on UNIC. When Ji heard about Pao Yi’s rude behavior, he was very angry and after reprimanding him, he drove him away to another place. Bao Yi did not feel ashamed at all.

The next year, Tai Allah took the exam and wanted to take the opportunity to take revenge on Bao Yi and make him give up his future, so he deliberately gave a very difficult essay. When the exam was over, he drove Pao Yi out after belittling him a bit. After a while, he regretted it, thinking, “Since this person has offended me, I will take revenge on him, which is not what a great man should do. Besides, can I block his future forever? Why should I do that? So he let Pao Yi go and passed his test. Before Taizhen announced the list of successful candidates, he sent the list to the prime minister for his review. The prime minister was afraid of people with the same surname as Zhu Rong and did not want to let the one with the surname Zhu win the list, so he ordered a new one. The first thing you need to do is to find someone who can’t remember the names of the other people, but only the name of Bao Yi, so he replaced him. When Bao Yi came in to thank him, he remembered that Bao Yi was the person he hated. So Taizhen said: “The success or failure of merit is not up to the person, but all is done under the guise of people.”

Monk Daozhao

During the reign of Emperor Yongtai of the Tang Dynasty, there was a monk named Daozhao who claimed to be a native of Lanzhou with the common surname Kang. When he was a young man, he was unable to cure his illness and woke up one day and said, “I have seen good and evil retribution in the underworld.” So he became a monk. He practiced in Taihang Mountain for forty years and kept the Buddhist precepts. He often told others about the future, and although his words were rather obscure, they were verified one by one afterwards.

There were once two guests visiting, one named Yao Miao, who had the merit of Ming scripture. One is named Zhang, has the qualification of hereditary official position, the name is unknown. Monk Dao Zhao said to Zhang, “You can be an official for four terms, but you must not go to Fan Yang to be an official. If you go, you will get sick on the eighth day of the fourth month and there is no Medicine to cure you.” He also said to Yao Miao, “You are not fit to be a civil official, but if you can join the military, you will have something to do for thirty years. If you are sick, do not seek medical treatment from the Hu people.”

That year Zhang became an official in the area of Xiang Deng and was transferred to a new position several times. Later, he asked to be an official in the area of Jiangnan, and he also got all his wishes. Later, she was chosen to be the magistrate of Lu’s county in Guozhou, and died two days after she arrived. The day of his death was indeed the 8th of April. Only later did it become clear that Fangyang was the county of Lu’s county.

Yao Miao later failed in the examination for the imperial examination, so he went to Rongzhou to follow a friend of his and joined the army, and was promoted to an important official position for thirty years. When someone investigated Huang’s origin, it turned out to be a maidservant banished by a foreign cave master, who was none other than a Hu girl.
