Chinese huawei Treasurer Meng Wanzhou is currently on monitored bail with a restricted range of motion and a tracker on her foot. Meng’s team recently asked the court for a relaxation of bail conditions, but was denied by the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Canada on the 29th.
The CBC reported that Meng’s team said it had proven itself trustworthy enough in the two years Meng had been on bail, and said earlier this month that Meng had Epidemic concerns because security was changed from Time to time. But British Columbia Supreme Court Justice William Ehrcke countered that Meng’s bail conditions are the minimum to ensure she does not flee Canada, saying that if Meng has epidemic concerns, she can quarantine herself at Home and the only thing she must do is go to court.
According to the report, Meng’s extradition hearing will begin in the first week of March, when Meng’s lawyers will argue that former U.S. President Donald Trump used Meng as a bargaining chip in a trade war, and will argue that the U.S. and Canada violated Meng’s rights when they arrested her.
As previously reported by the media, Meng has continued to live a Life of affluence and leisure while on bail, for example, chartering an entire restaurant for a party of 14 people during Christmas, or shopping at high-end boutiques in Vancouver and asking the stores to set aside her personal space for her to take her time.
