Wuhan Yangtze River bottomed out Wang Weiluo: upstream of the reservoir control

The Yangtze River basin experienced three months of flooding only last summer, and recently, the water level of the Yangtze River in Wuhan has dropped dramatically, resulting in a large exposed riverbed. Dr. Wang Weiluo, a renowned water scientist living in Germany, said the reason for the bottoming out of the Yangtze River is that the water in China’s rivers is controlled by reservoirs upstream, which release flood water during the flood season and store water during the dry season both for power generation, and that there are conflicting multiple goals for China’s reservoir design such as flood control and power generation.

Since winter, the Yangtze River bed in Wuhan’s Tianxingzhou has gradually been exposed, with the riverbed and mudflats exposed from an aerial view, showing sand pits of varying sizes, according to the Changjiang Daily.

Wang Weiluo said that the water level in the Hankou section of the Yangtze River is now 14.68 meters, only half of that of the same period last year, which is a dry water level, while the Three Gorges reservoirs are also all low, because the reservoirs upstream of Chongqing rarely released water some Time ago and less water came in.

Wang Weiluo said: “The water in China’s rivers now, it is not the water in its natural state, but are controlled by the reservoirs upstream, the reservoirs it is going to generate as much electricity, it will release as much water. When it floods, yes, it builds a reservoir and it says to you, “I can store the flood in the reservoir and release it to you when there is a drought. This is when China introduced the concept of the Soviet Union, in Stalin’s political economy, that’s what it said, in fact, its reservoir is not so big, it can not store so many floods.”

Wang Weiluo analysis, the current downstream Jiujiang, Datong and other places, the lower the water level, but the Chinese Communist Party can do nothing about it, do not dare to put a little more water in the reservoir to maintain the amount of water downstream, because China’s reservoirs have a key problem, is that the original design has multiple conflicting goals such as flood control and power generation, just like a girl looking for a match, and want handsome, and want more money, and want high Education, do not know exactly what to look for What kind, so you can not find.

Wang Weiluo said: “Even though it says that the water inside the Three Gorges Reservoir is now 170 meters, it goes to 145 meters, and it has almost 17 to 18 billion cubic meters of water in the middle, it can be released, right? But after it is released, it is afraid that after the water does not come, it will, power generation will not work. For example, if you say you want to generate electricity, it will store the water level high, so that it will generate more electricity, right? Then, if it is flood control, it has to put the water level to very low, then, when the flood comes it can store, each other is contradictory, it is in the argument it always and you say that it is good side, it always and you say that it can play a role in the optimal state, but God always does not give you the optimal state of this, right?”

Wang Weiluo added that before the CCP virus Epidemic caused Wuhan to close the city at the end of 2019, the city went through a dry period and the water level of the Yangtze River reached an all-time low, but the CCP media reported this as a good thing, slyly claiming that the Yangtze River Bridge next to Jiangxingzhou was fully exposed and that Wuhan people had found another good place to relax, telling people that a sandbar had appeared and that they could go kite flying.

The Yangtze River Protection Law, the first basin law recently passed by the Chinese Communist Party, will take effect on March 1, 2021, saying it will strengthen the protection and restoration of the ecological environment in the Yangtze River basin. Dr. Wang Weiluo said that the “South-North Water Diversion” project and the many large chemical companies located along the Yangtze River in major cities are polluting and destroying the Yangtze River, which is contrary to the “protection” claim. The new Yangtze River Protection Law requires that chemical plants be set back 1 kilometer, just to achieve the visual effect of not seeing plants and pipelines along the shoreline, which is actually a cover-up and not helpful.

Wang Weiluo said: “The Yangtze River Protection Law does not know what it means to protect and what it does not mean, right? What does it mean by protection? You say, transfer water from the Yangtze River, continue to transfer water to the north, which is considered protection or not? It only says one thing, which we can assess, that is, the Yangtze River coast, the Yangtze River coast of that chemical plant, it can not be placed directly to the river, to exit 1 km away from the place where the chemical plant is built. In fact, you are not the same? You build on the river and back 1 km away, it is not the same thing? It was only thinking about this method, it did not think of handling. It is now only thinking about the visual effect of the eyes, so that these chemical plants backward, back to 1 km away, that is, you can not see, can not see but you are still in the pollution ah, you pollution is still in, not the fundamental solution to the problem, right?”

Previously, Dr. Wang has repeatedly pointed out that the Three Gorges Project’s counter-regulatory effect, which violates the laws of nature, has not only caused increased flooding in the Yangtze River basin in summer, but also aggravated water shortages in winter.
