After President Trump leaves office, it is rumored that he may establish a third party called the “Patriotic Party”, but in fact the Patriotic Party has existed in the United States for a long Time, but on a very small scale, the leaders of the organization said they need the support of the American people, and hope to get Trump’s support.
Senior aides to Trump have made it clear that the outgoing president does not want to create a third party at this time. And Trump recently rejected another “patriotic party” that wanted to establish ties with him.
The Patriot Party is still in its early stages, and William Johnson, chairman of the party’s Idaho political action committee (PAC), told the Epoch Times that they have been acting online for the past few months to discuss how the party, which adheres to constitutional conservative values, could evolve and elect a candidate who also upholds traditional values.
Since the Patriotic Party is not yet a party that forms a national scale, Johnson is moving with Patriotic Party PACs in other states in the hope of eventually joining forces and becoming a national party like the Republican National Committee.
In the United States, for a party to be endorsed by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), a certain number of party members must run and win.
Johnson and other colleagues are looking for candidates to run for various offices, including mayoral and city council positions, and the party is backing David Richter for New Jersey governor and Mindy Robinson for Nevada’s House seat.
Robinson told the Epoch Times by email that they formed the Patriot Party PAC in Nevada in response to “a disingenuous, incompetent, cowardly Republican Party.
“It is a return to the Constitution and a restoration of individual liberties and rights for all Americans. The establishment will never push for term limits, pay cuts or reduce their own power …… but the people will.” Robinson added that she wants to see “honest conservatives” serve at the city, state and federal levels and take back “the government that has given up on the people.
Johnson, meanwhile, said the party is exploring how it can uphold “conservative constitutional values” while not straying too far to the right. “Frankly, we welcome former Republicans or former Democrats to join, and I think both sides have gone to the extreme left and extreme right.” He also expressed hope for the support of President Trump.
Johnson, Robinson and other leaders of the party are planning to attend the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference, hoping to use it to network with prominent conservatives and find candidates who can run.
Johnson, who said candidates could include police officers, nurses and firefighters, said he believes there are many career politicians in the United States with decades of experience in politics, but few politicians come from the general profession, and he sees patriots as “people who are willing to defend the values of the country.”
