Chinese-American has severe diarrhea after second dose of vaccine, spends day on toilet

Some people have recently started to receive the second dose of the vaccine one after another, and some people are surprised to find that they are “super sensitive” to the side effects of the vaccine after receiving the second dose. He ran to the toilet numerous times and was unable to go to work normally, describing that day as “a day spent on the toilet”.

Chen Shimin shared her experience after the second dose of the vaccine on Facebook, and many people who had finished the second dose of the vaccine read it and said they “felt the same”. In an interview, Chen said that after the first dose of Modena’s vaccine, her body felt a little tired, but there was no special abnormal feeling, and she was fine after resting for half a day, while the second dose needed to be given 28 days later.

Chen Shimin finished the second dose with a normal mind, but the second half of the day she started to have arm pain, muscle pain, head, neck and back pain, and she couldn’t sleep with a stomach chill in the middle of the night, so she swallowed a painkiller. The next morning she suddenly had intestinal cramps and had to run to the toilet no matter what she ate, and had severe diarrhea. Basically, the second two days after the second dose of vaccination were very difficult, and the side effects were more than the general vaccination, but the vaccination was considered very necessary to protect herself and others.

Dr. Huang Chongde, an epidemiologist, is over 65 years old and just finished the second dose of vaccine not long ago. After the two doses, he did not feel too strong discomfort except for general soreness. He said that the side effects of the second dose of the new vaccine are usually stronger than those of the first dose, but the discomfort after the vaccination varies from person to person, such as a hospital nurse who had a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit after the second dose, and a nurse who rested in bed for two days before feeling relief. In case of discomfort, it is recommended to take painkillers to alleviate the pain and most side effects will disappear within two days.

In response to the concerns of some elders that the side effects of the new vaccine are too strong for fear of death, Wong Chung Tak said that the side effects of the new vaccine are indeed stronger than the general vaccination. It is advisable for seniors aged 65 and above to consult their Family physicians before administering the vaccine if they are not infected with the disease. For those who have been diagnosed, it is best to wait for three months after the antibodies in the body have weakened before administering the vaccine to reduce the possibility of death due to the strong side effects. People are advised to consult with their family physicians to see if they can have a serologic test to find out if they have antibodies to the new coronavirus.

According to the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA), common side effects of the Pfizer vaccine include headache, muscle pain, cold, joint pain, fever, and swelling at the vaccination site. The common side effects of the Modena vaccine are similar to those of the Pfizer vaccine. Generally speaking, the side effects of the second dose of the vaccine were more pronounced than the first dose. The data also pointed out that people aged 55 and younger had milder side effects from the Pfizer vaccine, while seniors aged 65 and older had less intense side effects from the Modena vaccine.
