Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) was taken to the hospital after feeling ill at the Capitol, MarketWatch reported.
Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who is scheduled to preside over the impeachment trial of former President Trump as speaker pro tempore of the House of Representatives beginning Feb. 9, was taken to a hospital for evaluation after feeling ill in his Senate office Tuesday afternoon. He was examined by an attending physician at the Capitol and then taken to an area hospital “out of an abundance of caution. Illinois Majority Whip Dick Durbin, speaking to CNN, quoted Leahy’s wife, a registered nurse, as saying “things [were] going well” at the hospital. Leahy was first elected to the Senate from Vermont in 1974.
U.S. Internet users expressed their views under this story.
” Maybe the prospect of a hospital is better than a meaningless Senate trial.”
“A little applause please, interesting.”
“I wish the senator good health. But there is no (diagnostic) information, there should always be a diagnosis. Hopefully, we will know more after the examination…!”
“Hope for a speedy recovery. Probably should consider retirement. Needs some younger guys, like his friend Sanders.” (Note: Sanders is also 80 years old)
