Journalist Andy Ngo is attacked with an unknown substance by “Antifa” in Portland, Oregon, June 29, 2019.
After receiving repeated death threats from Antifa extremists, Andy Ngo, a well-known journalist and author, said on Saturday (23rd) that he had to flee the United States and has now moved to London, England.
In an interview with Sky News on Saturday night, Ngo told the story of how he had to flee his hometown of Portland, Oregon, after the threat to his Life from “Antifa” grew.
Portland has been one of the main cities where the far-left group Antifa has been fomenting riots since the summer of 2020 in the United States, when several federal buildings in the city were besieged and destroyed.
“My hometown of Portland, Oregon, was the epicenter of the Antifa riots in the United States.” Engo said, “All the politicians who eagerly condemned the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol were silent to the greatest extent possible when my city was literally under siege last year.”
Worse, Ngo said, they actually pushed the envelope and let the rioters out of jail quickly.
“For months, the threats of violence against me grew, and the ‘Antifa’ extremists vowed to kill me.” Even when he provided the names of suspects to local law enforcement authorities, Ngo said, they took no action.
“It was painful for me to have to temporarily leave the country where my Parents took refuge, who came here as political refugees.” Ngo added. Ngo’s parents fled to the United States from Vietnam in 1978, and now he himself has become a political refugee fleeing to London.
Ngo’s profile grew after he was attacked by the “Antifa” mob in 2019. During that attack, Ngo was beaten, robbed and hospitalized with a brain injury. But those involved in the attack were never arrested, even though they were caught on camera from different angles and Ngo’s lawyer provided the police with the names of the suspects.
With the upcoming publication of Ngo’s book, Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy, “Antifa “The hatred for him has escalated further. The book chronicles Antifa’s violent history and his radical plan to destroy democracy.
Earlier this month, Portland retailer Powell’s City of Books, known as the world’s largest independent bookstore, became a target of “Antifa” after it said it would refuse to put Ngor’s book on its shelves but would continue to sell it online. “The Portland retailer, known as the world’s largest independent bookstore, is the target of an Antifa attack. Demonstrations outside the bookstore’s flagship store in Portland continued for at least a week, and at times the protests were so violent that the major retailer was forced to close early and evacuate employees and customers through the back door.
“The riots in Portland were so bad on Biden‘s inauguration day that 15 ‘Antifa’ were arrested, nearly half of whom had been released last year after being arrested for similar crimes. It was the nightmare version of Groundhog Day.” Engo added.
In a recent interview with the newspaper’s “Crossroads” column, Ngo said Antifa is “domestic terrorism” under the label of justice.
“What I see is that they’re discriminating and they’re being labeled as fashionable, and their attacks, including attacks on other citizens, on government property, on law enforcement, are essentially domestic terrorism happening in front of us under the guise of racial justice and anti-fascism.” Andy Ngo said, “They’re actually using it as a staging ground to bring their comrades together, to sell their extremist radical literature to people, and then to riot.”
According to Ngo, Antifa’s deeper purpose is to destabilize the United States and undermine its democratic system, leading to its collapse.
“We can see that they have a larger agenda to destabilize America. They’re using the whole 2020 racial discontent to pull allies and engage in extremist riots that then lead to strife and then calls by mainstream politicians to abolish law enforcement agencies and we’ve seen a spike in systemic crime throughout the United States.” Engo said. “What’s being said here is not talking about Nazism by definition in political science, National Socialism or Fascism, which is the term they use to name all the things that are opposed to the far-left political agenda, so they bash the Trump (Trump) administration, but what they’re triggering is the collapse of America itself, because it’s actually a tactic.”
What Ngo hopes readers will take away from his book is that, in essence, “Antifa” is an anarchist and communist organization.
“They have a larger agenda than just opposing the far right, and they use the banner of anti-fascism (the ostensible meaning of Antifa – ed.).” Engo said. “That’s why I never called them anti-fascists, because it sounded like something very grand. ‘Antifa’ just exploits the concept to some extent, and basically they’re anarchist communists.”
Although Ngo made numerous enemies during his work, at the same Time he was known for his courage and perseverance. Writer Julia Smith said of Engo’s flight to London, “It’s very sad, it’s not the America his parents were looking for.”
