As former President Trump‘s personal attorney Giuliani has repeatedly accused Dominion Voting Systems of fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Dominion Voting Systems filed a defamation lawsuit against Giuliani on May 25, seeking $1.3 billion in damages.
Reuters reported that Giuliani released a statement saying that Dominion’s actions were intimidating others from exercising their right to free speech. The $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit will allow me to fully and thoroughly investigate their history, finances and practices,” he said, adding that he may sue Dominion for violating his rights.
The Trump camp denied the election results and continued to claim massive fraud in the election until Trump fans stormed Capitol Hill on Jan. 6.
In addition to Giuliani, Denver-based Dominion also filed a lawsuit earlier against Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell. In addition, Eric Coomer, director of product strategy and security at Dominion, filed a lawsuit against the Trump campaign because of death threats from Trump supporters.
