Foreign media reported that President Joe Biden‘s Commerce Secretary nominee, Gina Raimondo, will tell the Senate Commerce Committee on Tuesday (26) that the United States must “take aggressive and tough trade enforcement measures to confront China’s unfair trade patterns with other countries that are hurting U.S. manufacturing.
The market is concerned that if her appointment is approved, she will take over the handling of the Trump administration’s unsuccessful bid to ban U.S. App stores from offering downloads of Chinese companies TikTok or WeChat. Three U.S. judges blocked the Commerce Department’s request last year, and the decision is currently under appeal.
