The Mirror reports that a plane crash occurred at 8 a.m. local Time on January 24 in Brazil, when a light aircraft was scheduled to fly people to Goenia for the Brazil Green Cup soccer tournament on the evening of January 25. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff at the Tocantins Aviation Association airstrip, killing all six people on board.
Among those killed were Palmas president Mera, 32, goalkeeper Lunar, 27, left back Prydes and midfielder Molinari, 23, defender Noé, 28, and pilot Wagner.
A statement from the Palmas club said they regret that no survivors were lost and asked for prayers for the families of the victims during this painful and frustrating time, and will also provide the necessary assistance. The club also shared the last figures of the team training in Tocantins on the 23rd.
The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) confirmed that the Brazil Green Cup soccer tournament, originally scheduled for the evening of the 25th, will be postponed.
