What was once an RAF base in England has been flipped into the White House Oval Office as the backdrop for a broadcast of an American political news program, according to the BBC.
The replica of the White House Oval Office, located at the former RAF base, Coltishall Airfield, in Norfolk, England, was originally built by October Film Studio for the 2018 film “Watergate. After the Watergate film finished filming, what was shot in this replica of the White House Oval Office could be seen regularly in films, plays and news reports.
Located near Norwich, October Film Studios has a large collection of American-style costumes and props, and their content production has been used by major broadcasters and film production companies around the world. Steve Murphy, head of October Film Studios, said, “This place is often used to produce content for American television.”
The 418-square-meter Oval Office near Norwich is a replica that is exactly the same size as the real one in Washington, D.C. The minute details match the real Oval Office in Washington, D.C. It is said to be the only permanent, full-size replica of the White House Oval Office outside the United States.
Mr. Murphy, head of October Film Studios, said it “cost about the same” to shoot in Norfolk as it did in the United States.
“The former Air Force base in Norfolk provided ample space for sets and stunts, and there are many experts in the field nearby.
“The base is surrounded by beautiful woodland, lakes and coastline, and we were able to shoot in areas where we could replace American homes and buildings.”
Designer Joe Barcham (Joe Barcham) said: “We carried out a long Time of research to get the flip right, the first thing we needed was a lot of pictures and dimensions.
“For example, we got a picture of Obama standing by the door, and based on what we knew about Obama’s height, we could figure that the door would be 2.5m (8 feet) tall.”
The Barkham designer is particularly proud of the fireplace made of wood. He said, “The painter painted an incredible marble effect. The effect is so realistic that you would think that it must be cold to touch it with your hands.”

The scene in the Oval Office of the White House was created for the 2018 film “Watergate,” involving the Nixon presidential scandal. Shown below is a mock-up of the Oval Office from the days of President Nixon.

Mr. Murphy said, “I felt nervous on the day that Charles Ferguson, the director of Watergate, visited, but the look on his face was priceless; he couldn’t believe what was in front of him. “

The flipped Oval Office has appeared in films and documentaries several times and was also recently used by BBC News on John Simpson’s show.
